I'm way ahead. In 2016 Easter is March 27.
How would a WDW trip in April been especially crowd levels?

It was last year...I went in the middle of April and had a wonderful time. I loved being there for the Flower and Garden Festival. It wasn't empty...not by any stretch...but it was pleasant and I don't remember there being any ridiculous wait times for anything.

When Easter is in March, April is a fantastic month to go. We typically schedule our spring trip for the end of April (pushed it back until the beginning of May this year due to Easter being late) and have never encountered crazy wait times. Crowds averaged between a 3-5 for our trips.

Yes we were there for our spring break the 3rd week of April last year and it was great! Nice weather and short wait times. I hope yo go again next April

So I've never been in the spring. When does flower & garden typically start. Any other events or groups in April?

Be sure to check out the dates for Passover and Patriots Day (or week?).
If Easter and Passover are not together, NYC public schools will have a few days off for Easter and then a week - week and a half off for spring break during Passover. In 2005, NYC's spring break fell during the same time New England schools were out for Patriots Day. The parks were
packed. But that didn't prevent us from having a great time.

.

It will be a perfect time....

Let me just add that even with Easter late (like today, April 20), we just returned from Disney yesterday and crowds were not bad at all. We had so many walk-on rides, more than we've ever had in Disney even during slow times. We felt like it was value season minus the value prices (unfortunately).

Thanks disney junkie , that's super helpful. Just the info I'm looking for.
I'll be taking my niece, by then 6 yrs old, who will never get to go to WDW unless I take her. Her Mom wouldn't be able to afford it.
If anyone as any others helpful tidbits, please...
