When does your school start?

Us too. Are you in CT? They eliminated February break for us (now it's a long weekend) and I think that's awful. No ski trip!

I am in NC. No Fall break for us at all. Just a few days off around Thanksgiving.

We are in Cental CT. WE go back on Aug 29th. Hoping we don't use up too many days off this year. last year our town was without power for 11 days. That was one LONG break and made for a longer school year. Our February vacation was cut short and they extended the school year. Luckly we did not have any actual snow days added ontop of the ones lost from Oct snowstorm.

We are finishing off the summer at WDW!! Returning 5 days before school starts!:cool1::cool1:

Do the kids know or is it a surprise

OH they know!:) This is our 8th annual August trip. Love going in August- nice way to end the summer. In '08 Tropical storm Fay cancelled our return Autotrain home- we opted to spend the 5 days till the next train out at WDW. We got back 2 days before school started. that was the best trip ever:cool1:

DS5 keeps asking if we get to go in the morning after he falls asleep. I need to make a little countdown chart for him. He is soo excited too.

Aug 27, no clue when we get out. I bought the bulk of 9&7 yr olds school uniforms (very strict dress code for public school) I still need to find some for my 11 yr old... I wish we had "good" jr clothes stores around me... She fits much better into a 0 than a kids 14.

First Tuesday or Wednesday (depending on the grade) after Labor Day!

When I first learned that people go to school in August, I didn't believe the person who told me.

Wednesday, September 5. I have some of DS10's supply shopping done, but I have yet to get him school clothes .

He gained about 6-7 pounds since school ended and it's all from drinking too much 1/2 lemonade 1/2 iced tea mix . I've completely cut him from that and he's been drinking more water and more healthier drink options. I'm also making sure he's watching what he's eating as well. So far he's lost about 4 pounds, but it's still not enough for him to fit back into his school uniform pants. Doesn't help that he broke his wrist almost 2 weeks ago, so going for bike rides like we did last summer has been out until it's healed :headache:.

We go back next week-6th grade transition day is Monday, then all 3 are back Wednesday. (kindergarten, 4th, and 6th grades) pick up 6th grade schedules today! We have 10 days off in Oct, thanksgiving, 2weeks in December, and 2 weeks in March. School got out just before Memorial Day this summer. Missouri recently changed laws , so instead of a # of days required, it is a # of minutes required for the school year. Ex- middle school 7:15 - 2:30, elem 9:10 - 4:10.

We were yr round for 40 years until last yr, I loved it! Started at the end of July, 3weeks off after each quarter (made early December trips to WDW so nice!)

August 28th.

Bought school supplies last weekend. I am not buying a lot of school clothes just yet. They have plenty to wear until it starts getting cold again.

My youngest started Kindergarten yesterday, August 1. It is a year round school. My oldest goes to college in a little less than 2 weeks.

We got out June 15th and go back August 28th. I think we are about set on school supplies though I need to pick up composition books. I really need to get both girls new pants. They both grew taller in the spring then switched to shorts so their pants are probably all too short by now.

We don't go back until the Wednesday after Labor Day. I actually wish they would start a week earlier and get out earlier in June. We have such nice June weather and by August everyone seems to be done with break. But it will never happen here.

If you have an Office Depot nearby, go there for composition books. They are a quarter this week.

August 29th and get out June 12th (I get out June 14th) unless we have snow days. We don't have air conditioning in our schools so it's hot at the beginning and end of the year.

For us it is the day after Labor Day as always... I'm not ready for the kids to go back, and I get tired of all the back to school sales when we should still be enjoying our summer!
