When does your kids Christmas break start?

Just curious. My kids last day is Tuesday the 20th and school resumes on January 3rd. I'm anxious for the break to begin because I have lots planned for us to do. We are going to do a lot of baking, go sledding (if we still have snow), stay up late and watch Christmas shows and after Christmas we are going to a new indoor water park resort about an hour away with five other couples and their kids (I'd rather be going to Disney, but hey, it's better than nothing ). So what plans do you have for Christmas break?

My kids go half a day Friday the 16th, but it looks like it will be a snow day unfortunately.... thus, I'd say the 15th is their last day, they also go back the 3rd.... Well, they don't actually, we're keeping them out through the 17th for our Australia trip

My sister and stepsister both go through the 23, and go back the 2nd or 3rd.

Thanks Allie&mattsmom!! We'll be in Hawaii for five days & the rest of the time around Australia We leave Monday very early... can't wait to get out of the cold!

Maybe I'll even be able to report in while we're on the road

DH is taking off the week between Christmas and New Year's while they're off school. I need to work and save my precious vacation time for Disney!

DS (7th grade) took his last exam this morning, so his break has started. He goes back on Jan 3rd.

DD (college senior) still has an exam on Friday, and classes resume on Jan 23rd.

My kids have to go to school a full day on 12/23 then they are off until 1/3.
They are kind of ticked off about that since surrounding towns have that day off or 1/2 day . . .So I tell them, I have to work a full day on 12/23 so why shouldn't you?

Tuesday, December 20 is the last day. The kids go back January 5. Teachers have workdays either December 21 or January 3.

mine get off at noon on friday (party day at school so mentaly they get off thursday at 3 ). they go back on january 3rd.

i plan on shopping for all of the cookie ingredients this weekend-we will make a couple of batches each day (and if it's the type that has to chill it will be ready when dad gets home so he can join in the fun). i'm going to grab one of those "pre-fab" gingerbread house kits and let them go at it with the last of the halloween candy. we will make a run to the library so they can grab some stuff to read (i love that most libraries carry a good selection of kid's magazines so i don't get hit up to buy them at the store), and probably rent a couple of video games to keep busy.

i know my water and gas bill go up during the 2 weeks-both like LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG bubble baths (with the necessary action figures in with them)-so it's a good time to let them lounge. i'll stock up on duraflames so they can have a fire at the drop of a hat.

now the week following christmas-all bets are off on anything planned with the exception of dad taking them to see "king kong", allowing for 3 1/2 hours of a quiet home for mom.

oh-and i'm going to set up tivo this week to record some shows i know they like (along with some christmas movies i like) so i can have something on should the mood strike us to pop some corn and cuddle.

Oldest got out about a week ago. Grad student. She's still not home yet though as she had professional responsibilities to finish up before she can leave. Driving home the 18th after playing in the orchestra for Nutcraker. Can't wait to see her.
Our schools here get out the 16th. Was a teacher work day but lost it because of Wilma, Rita and Katrina. Have to make up days we lost to the storms.
But I'm heading for Disney tmw!

Our Christmas break is the same as yours. My husband has the week between Christmas and New Years off (his lab shuts down). During that week, he plans to take our son to the Children's Museum, and maybe to the zoo. I take off Dec 20-25 and Jan 2. I am on call, and, as a matter of fact, the only Dr. working Dec 26-27, so, that should be interesting.

The kids have a 1/2 day on Tues the 21st and go back on Jan 4th.....way too long for me! I have to start planning what we will do; I took off work all except 3 of those day.
