When does your child's school get out for summer?

June 22nd, that's early this year! They go back August 22nd and they don't get Feb. break.

We get out June 1st here in Middle GA and go back August 6th. We will be in the car at 3:15 headed to Pop Century.

June 7th is the last day for students here in Central Virginia.

I hear that!. DS's last day was supposed to be June 1. We leave for WDW May 30. No big deal DS's teacher told us. She said everything will be complete by the week before so they will just watch videoes and do fun stuff the last week, so DS wasn't going to miss anything.

Now they have had counting today 3 snow days. I hope they cut into spring break and maybe take Presidents Day. I looked into changing our trip to later in June and it will make the cost significantly higher since we are doing DCL too. Of course not a snow day for 2 years we plan this trip and look what happens, just our luck.

So do your school districts not plan for snow days at all or have a set policy in place if you use snow days? Our calendar has 5 days built in for snow days whether we use them or not. If we go over 5 days, they have a set policy for where they get the make-up days.

I haven't asked about this yet. They used to build in snow days but it was never an issue in the past so I didn't even think to ask. I'll be at DS's school tomorrow for his Valentine's Party, I'm going to ask the principal.

we went last year may 20 th for a week at pop and it was crazy busy....crazy.
we just went jan 20 th for a week and it was a dream come true. not so hot...may was like 93 every day and sweltering and january was cool at night but high 70's or 80s every day...swam every day and shorts and tshirts every day but one ...stayed at cbr this time also a dream...loved it
I wouldn't go in May again unless it was the first week.

May 25 in Albuquerque, NM. It was supposed to be May 22. We had to move our Disney trip to the 29th. At least our school system has promised that any future snow days will add to the length of the school day instead of putting back vacation even further.

We are in Vale, NC (1 hr. from Charlotte). Our last day is June 7! We are leaving on June 9th for a week!

We missed 8 days of school before the holidays due to flooding, snow and a huge wind storm, so we are currently at June 28th for our last day of school, but they still need to find 4 more days to make-up somewhere...

Doesn't your school system "build" snow days into the school calendar? I feel so sorry for your kids

We homeschool so we go year round - but the local district here gets out sometime in the second week of May, either the 8th or 9th. I cannot remeber for sure what my niece told me. She will go back the end of August. This past year they cut the Thanksgiving holiday by three days, Christmas break was reduced by four days, no day off for days like Good Friday, Veteran's Day, etc..in an effort to give the kids a longer summer break. Plus we don't get snow and the schools rarely close for weather - maybe only one day every few years.

As of right now June 20th...however, with all the snow days cause of the October storm and then the snow and cold that we've had lately, we are hoping that they don't tack any more days on the end.

Our last day of school in my district here on Long Island is Friday, June 22nd. My son and daughter go to sleep away camp (son for 8 weeks, daughter for 4 weeks) and they start on the 24th of June. Kills us to have to leave the day after school gets out to get them up to Vermont.

But, they don't start school again until the Wednesday following Labor Day - so, we have plenty of time at the end of the summer for family time and vacation (2 weeks in California this year - Yeah!!).

Mid-May should be a nice time to go (busy, but not psychotically insane).

What about July and August??? Aren't they out then? My kids are done on June 27th too. And they go back Sept 4th.

I can't believe that some schools have to make up the days that are snow days by tacking them onto the end of the school year. What a bummer!
