when does wdw start to get busy xmas

we go to wdw wednesday 17 dec - 7 jan , we are hoping the the parks won,t be to crowded the first few days of our stay then again jan 2 onwards.
can anyone advise us on what days may be good to visit . we have seen threads saying a week before xmas is ok.
would this be a full week ., or up to the weekend before???

Hi, Kim! The times I've been, I've noticed more people in the parks, etc. starting around the 20th to the 22nd. This first year, we were there Dec. 15-21, and there just weren't that many people there. The last time, we were there Dec. 19-25 (left early on the 25th), and on the 24th, it was very crowded. We were able to get into the two parks we went to (MGM and MK) without any problems, but the crowd at MK in the afternoon wasn't much fun.

I think you'll have plenty of time before and after the crowds -- and with you being there that long, you should be able to see a few things on the very crowded days too.

We have been at WDW many times over the christmas holiday. This year based on the calendar most schools will get out on the 19th. With the 20th being a saturday I would the expect the crowds to start building on saturday and getting more crowded everday right thru New Years. After the 2nd crowds will drop , but it will still be plenty busy thru the 4th.

This year will will get there on the 28th and stay thru the 2nd. Let me know if you have any other questions?

The Saturday before Christmas will be very busy compared to the days before it. The busiest we have ever seen it. MK stuffed to the gills, couldn't get near the food court at POR.
