When does the dining surcharge end?

Just wondering if anyone out there knows when the extra charge they add for buffets during the Christmas period is going to end (i.e. Jan 2 or later)? I tried asking Disney when I called about a reservation, but the CM came back after talking to the dining people and said that no on there had heard of a surcharge being added during busy times!? I just laughed and said I would post the question on the boards.
