When does security get set up?

We are going to be staying at GCH but want to grab breakfast at IHOP one day. What time does security get set up, so hopefully we don't have to cross it both times. We would pick up and take back to our hotel.

I haven't ever been there that early in the morning, but I have read that security is set-up by the time the first stores open in DTD (so at least by 5:00 am because that's when Starbucks opens).

5am. And you will have to cross it both ways. Also, be aware, the iHop across the street is considerably more expensive than the average iHop.

If you Uber from the front of the hotel, you wouldn't have to go through security at all, would you? Since you'll have room keys, Uber should be allowed to drop you back off right at the front. Then you could leave and come back at whatever time you want.

I like this thought.

Wow, you're not a kidding - I looked up the Original Full Stack Buttermilk and it's $8.59 normally and $10.99 at the two iHops on Harbor Blvd. Given those prices, it might be worth it to see how much more it would cost to take Uber/Lyft to one of the iHops outside of the tourist areas.

The only thing I would be concerned about doing another Ihop is opening time. We will wannt to have breakfast before we do the park of EMH or MM one day, which would mean eating around 6.

The Dennys has their 2 4 6 8 menu including unlimited pancakes for $4

Is there a specific reason it has to be ihop? What about White water snacks or Tangaroa Terrace. They both have simple breakfast items and you do not have to go far.

White Water Snacks and Storytellers both have great made-to-order breakfasts and both are inside the GCH. Hearthstone lounge, near the GCH lobby, has great coffees and simple breakfast items. Steakhouse 55 at the DLH also has great breakfast. :coffee:

It would be a bit of a walk for the food and it would be cold by the time you got it back to the hotel. Microwaved pancakes are not good. I'd eat at the IHoP or at the hotel.

Other options include La Brea Bakery, Naples, Catal, Earl, or White Water Snacks, all of which serve breakfast, but most open at 7 or 8. You could also do room service. If you seriously just want IHOP, I would Uber. Personally, IHOP isn't one of my favorite places.

I know you mentioned wanting to EMH/MM, but another option might be to get a quick bite before EMH/MM (e.g., Starbucks opens at 5:00 am and they have breakfast things) and then eat breakfast in the parks after EMH/MM. Red Rose Tavern now serves breakfast, including pancakes.

The reason we were thnnking IHop is we have a large gift card and its one you have to use online like placing an order ahead of time.

Is using the gift card on arrival or departure date an option?
I personally would sell the gift card, but that is because i am not a fan of Ihop

I have entered DTD before 5 with no security. Waited for starbucks to open and then waited for EMH and I got into the park without security check.

That surprises me. usually they clear everyone out of the esplenade before security opens to ensure everyone goes through bag check and such.

Yep, they do. Surprised if they didn't. Also surprised someone would wait from 5am to 7 for EMH.

Also to the OP, if your pancakes do get cold, there are microwaves on each floor in the room where ice and sodas are.
