We will be going to Disney in January. :yay: When do schools start back in January. I know in South Alabama we go back on January 8. We are trying to see when the park attendance will start to slow down. I know that this is a very busy season, but this is the only time we are able to go down since my DH is a farmer. We don't get breaks like others do. We have two children 12 and 6. They have never been. Also does anybody have any ideas about where we can eat. We will have the dining plan and will stay five nights. Thanks for all the help.

I know schools around us usually start back right after New Years, so my children will be back in school on January 2. We have gone to Disney in January a few times and it is much less crowded than other times. The only problem you may have is the weather. There have been times where it has been quite chilly and we all needed coats! Hopefully it will be warm for you. As far as the Dining Plan we are looking into using that for the first time in Feb. so I don't have too much information on that yet. You might try posting in the Dining Plan section for more help on that. Hope you have a great time! :)

We start back to school on January 2, unfortunately. When we went during the first week of January 5 years ago, the further away from New Year's Day, the less the crowds were. Don't forget that the Marathon is that first weekend. Don't know if it jumps attendance at the parks or not.

Oh,and War Eagle!

Thanks for the info. We hope that it will be a good time to go. I was afraid that it would be really wild. Maybe we will be lucky.

Cathy, glad you knew AU was for the big Auburn. War Eagle back to you. I'm an alumni from 1987.

If anybody else has their school dates, let me know. Thanks

Pam

we get the 2006-2007 school calendar for our area next week, but based on prior years I'll put my money that the kids here will go back Jan 2nd.

not that anyone in our neck of SD would be crazy enough to try to fly out at that time if we can help it so I doubt we'd affect your crowds. :lmao:

We don't go back until January 9th...we're considering a trip to the World during this time. :sunny:

Most schools go back right after New Years Day. Our school district goes back a week later. We went to WDW in Jan 2005. It was GREAT! The lines were short, the buses weren't crowded, the dining wasn't crazy, etc. The only thing you have to worry about is the weather. We were lucky, it was sunny and in the 80's the whole week we were there, but the week before we were there and the week after we were there it was cold and rainy.

Everyone talks about how low the crowds are the beginning of Dec and I think it's crowded. The first week of Jan is when the real low crowds are. We'll be visiting next month in Sept, so I'll have to compare that time of the year to the low crowds in Jan.

We didn't notice any increase in crowds for the marathon. We made that Sunday our "sleep in late" day and got to MK around noon for lunch at the castle.

Have fun. :)

Ours are back on Jan. 8. We did a family trip the first week of last January and had a blast. :goodvibes We arrived the night of the 2nd, and departed in time for the kids to get back to school the following Monday. We did not think that the crowds were too bad.
