when does OKW slide open?

I'm sure this has probably already been asked, but I couldn't find the answer. What is the expected date for the opening of the slide at OKW? I am planning a "girls only" trip for me and 11 other females in my family for next June or July. We'll have two seven year olds who are fish and would LOVE a slide. I've never stayed at OKW, but I thought it would be a good way to save some points since I'm footing the bills for three studios for five nights.

I think the plan is to have it finished by the end of 2004.

Nothing has been officially set in stone. It does sound like they are shooting for late December/early January.

My husband and I drove over to WDW on Saturday - just to get a "fix..."

At the end of the day, I wanted to stop by OKW and go in and see the "artist's renderings."

I walked in, looked all around, and saw nothing.

So I asked the CM at the recreation desk, and he wasn't sure, either. He asked me to hold on a moment, and he started to look thru some binders behind the desk. Lo and behold, he found the pictures.

I didn't realize the "mock-up" that Doc had posted was just a "picture of a mock-up."

The CM was proud of himself for finding them - he didn't even know they were there.

Anyway - he said that he understood they were starting construction in September, and anticipated it would take approximately 3 months to complete.

Thanks again for the updates! I've heard that the studios at OKW are quite a bit bigger than the other DVC resorts. For many of the people in our group this will be their first WDW trip or the first one in many years (aack!! how can these people be related to me?!). I'd like to give them as much room as possible to spread out.

shelbyjosh~ I LOVE being able to share my love of all things Disney with my friends and family. Last summer we "paid" for a 2 BR at VB for us (me, DH, DS and DS's best friend) and our friends (DW, DH, DD1 & DD2). I can't count how many times they thanked us and the great dinner they bought us at Captain Hiram's was wonderful! I booked our airfare for our July DCL/WDW trip a few weeks ago. My DH, who for some unknown reason is not the HUGE Disney nut that I am (even my license plate is DZNY NUT!!), asked that he and my son skip WDW next summer so thay can do a male bonding hunting trip out west. I said fine, but I CAN'T let our points go to waste. I know I could bank them, but skip a year at WDW, NEVER!! So the wheels started turning and I came up with the idea of a girls only trip. I have 5 sisters (and a step-niece who is like a sister) who I dearly love and enjoy spending time with. To have them, my mom, my two nieces, my sister-in-law and my mother-in-law together at WDW is a dream come true. My oldest sister has never flown, but made it a life goal when she turned 50 a few years ago. I talked to her first about the trip. It would be the first time that my niece (her godchild) would fly too. I told her how cool it would be for them to both take their first flight together. Before I hung up, she was a definite yes!! I've talked to everyone except my mom (she's coming home from Florida in two weeks) and my sister-in-law. Everyone is a go!! Let the planning begin!!

DVC is stating by the end of 2004 which should be about right, there is nothing too difficult about building a slide, if it were an attraction then WDW is noted for being off on its opening dates. I am going in jan 2005 I expect it should be about done by then.

One of the managers at Hank's told us that the tentative construction schedule calls for sep 17 - Dec 17. Of course these are just target dates right now and many things could happen.

Something i forgot to ask was with the whole pool being closed for rehab will the current pool, hot tub, and sauna be under rehab also? The large hot tub at the main pool hasn't worked well the past three years in our experience.
