When do your kids start school in 2015?

Toronto area Ontario. Schools here start Sept 8th but some have the year round calendar.

East Bridgewater --about 20 miles south of Boston and we start back on 9/2. I believe Quincy does also.

Sorry, should have been more specific as to what I meant by "Boston area"... We're in Metro West and all of the nearby towns follow the Boston Public School system calendar with the 9/8 start date. Quincy starts 9/9.

It would be nice if we had a good list of school start dates across the US to get a feel of how crowd levels may be for those traveling in August and September. This is more of a question this year since labor day is later than the past few years and also many schools have recently mentioned changing their start dates.

Please list your City / State / Grade level / Start Date

Thank you :)

Northeast Alabama, we start back on August 13th.

Central Indiana - suburban public school - July 30th. We're on that 9 weeks on, 2 weeks off calendar

I wish we were on that schedule! Our kids go back Aug 19th and get out June 3rd.

British Columbia, Canada, Grades 1-12 Sept 8, 2015. Kindergarten is gradual entry hera and start on Sept 9. My DD6 is going into Grade 1.

In NW Ohio our district starts August 19 with Kindergarteners August 27 (my little guy!). The larger district (Toledo) starts Aug. 25

Powhatan County, VA ~ All Grade levels ~ September 8th (most of our surrounding counties start this same time, Richmond area)

Cumberland County, VA ~ All Grade levels ~ August 10th

We're in Lamar County, Mississippi, and our schools start back on August 4th. We do, however, get out for the summer on May 20th!

Boston area, MA, school year opens on 9/8

South Shore Massachusetts we are going back September 2nd, originally we were scheduled to go back September 8th but our district received a waiver to start before Labor Day.

South East MA - Sept. 1st. Most school systems in the area start the week before labor day when labor day is late like it is this year. Though there are still a few hold outs who go back after labor day. The school committees set the schedule.

Central Massachusetts - September 2nd.

This will be my 4th year having school age kids and it's always the week BEFORE Labor Day (no matter when Labor Day is) and it's a mid-week start. I have heard they do this to "ease" the kids back into the school routine. When I was a kid we never went back until AFTER Labor Day ...

As usual, MA is all over the place! :confused3

Our town (just north of Boston) always starts school the Tuesday before Labor Day no matter when Labor Day is. All levels of school have the same start day. The kids do 3 days of school the first week then 4 days then 5... It is a nice way to ease the kids and the parents back into the school routine. Plus we get a 4 day weekend for Labor Day which is a nice way to end the summer. This coming year is the latest I think DD12 has ever started school. It stinks when they start in August but we do usually end up with a nice mid June end date every year, even with some snow days.
