When do your kids go back to school?

Mine got out the 19th and are supposed to go back the 7th!

How many have off for Martin Luther King Day......

....but DON'T have off for Veteran's Day????


Just a question. (And maybe a thought or two?)

Our kids got out an hour early on Fri the 19th and go back on 1/5 Monday.
I have heard of some surrounding areas around here (like cousin's child's school/etc) starting back on Tues the 6th-as many have mentioned here also. Is there a reason for that? I'm just curious if there is a holiday or something on the 5th that I don't know about that could account for the schools starting on the 6th instead? Just curious.. I'm personally glad mine are going back on the 5th- they are starting to get a little argumentative with each other. LOL

We stopped having veterans day off about 10 years ago. At first I was upset about it, but they use the day to invite veterans in for convos, so my kids learn more about veterans that way than they would just having the day off. They even do 21 gun salutes!! It is also great for them because they understand a little more about what life is like for DB who is in the Army.

I forgot to add the they were off 12/19 to 1/5!! So they go back to school this monday, and they are both really ready to go!!

Mine has been out since the 22nd and goes back on the 5th....she can't wait to get back! Every day I hear whining "mommy do I go back to school today" she misses all the interaction with kids her own age.

Ours were in school until the 23rd. They go back tomorrow (the 5th). But, they get another 12 days off for spring break.

Next year, with Christmas being on a Saturday, it looks like their winter break will be very short (last day on the 23rd and return on Jan. 3).

We go back tomorrow (the 5th), but it looks like we could have a delay due to the weather. I miss my kindergarteners. It's around this time of year that they start to look like First Graders

Our kids go back tomorrow. They have been off since the 19th and I expect this to be a rough week getting back into the routine of going to bed by 8:00 and up by 6:40. They've been staying up until about 9:30 and they have gotten used to sleeping until about 9:00 in the morning. I'm glad I won't be here trying to get them ready in the mornings! (I go into work by 6:00 am) Dh is going to have fun!

Tomorrow can't come soon enough. lol
They are going to have hard time getting up tomorrow, as they been staying up WAY To late.. and sleeping in WAY to late ( but it's been quiet in the morning...

Funny you should mention this- you are so right! My son (kindergartener) lost his first tooth yesterday! He's going to look totally different (older?) to his teacher tomorrow I bet.

I've been TRYING to mine to go to bed earlier each night for the past few nights- so far so good... except with my son. But I think he was having a hard time going to sleep too excited about what the tooth fairy would leave him. LOL
