one gets out friday at noon, the other next tuesday at noon (i think they shortened it from the standard 2 weeks b/c they were afraid there would be as many snow days this year as the last 2).
DD gets out Wednesday the 23rd, and goes back on the 4th of Jan. THough Wednesday doesn't really count because it's a day of nothing but Christmas parties (for which I have to make a massive amount of candy, lol)
Goodness, we start family Christmas parties on the 20th! We have one the 20th, one on the 23rd, two on the 24th, and two on the 25th. I don't know what we'd do if our schools went that close to Christmas!
Anyway, our schools get out Friday, the 18th. It's a full day, but they are having "Polar Express day" and wearing pj's to school, watching the movie, and doing other assorted fun-but-not-really-all-that-educational stuff.
Today is their class party. I'm not sure why they aren't doing that tomorrow. So really today and tomorrow are just "fluff" days.
We go back on the 5th. I wish it was the 7th, but I'm just glad it's not the 4th.
There last day is on the 22nd. They have to go all day, which I dont understand because they got out 2 hours early for Thanksgiving holiday. They go back the Monday after New Years.
Here in my town in CT, school gets out at early dismissal time (2 hours early) next Wednesday, the 23rd. They go back the Monday after New Years (the 4th, I guess).
School is a 1/2 on Friday, and then we start back Jan. 11th. (Yes we are on an alternative schedule - we started school on July 25th. We had 2 weeks off in Oct., 3 weeks for Christmas, and 2 weeks for spring break, and the 7 weeks of summer break)

Agreed! Most of the working world doesn't have a "teacher's schedule". Our schools get out the 23rd (some are half, some full) and go back the 4th. If they got out earlier it would be a logistical nightmare for many parents or the kids would just be in daycare anyways. Most of the working parents I know try to take off the week between the holidays but most cannot take off much before the 23rd. I know my company would never let us take that much time off in a row, even if I had enough days!
We got 12/17 and was half day of school. We all is home now doing nothing. The kids is outside playing with friends. I have house full of kids. Parents don't get off to five to pick them up.
