My husband will mold miniscule soap slivers to each other and throw a fit if he sees a new bar out when the slivers were still "big enough".......which by his definition seems to be bigger than microscopic.

Yet this is the same man who went out and bought another television when we already had 5. So we now have 6 televisions in a four person family, but we can't afford to throw out a soap sliver and put out a new bar????

I don't have to throw it away... eventually, someone will let it fall to the bottom of the tub and turn mushy and it will ooze its way down the drain.

LMAO!! My dh is just the opposite, ill leave a small piece in there just because i forget to ditch it not because im opposed to throwing it away and he will have a cow because "that little piece of soap is not big enough to wash with"
Whatever ...... just check the soap situation before you get in shower you big freak !;)

Go to shower gel, a perfumed one ;)

Soap slivers? What's that? We use shower gels and liquid soaps. No sliver issues. BAN THE BAR OF SOAP!!!! :yay:

We throw them away when they are too little to pick up and hold onto easily. I can be really cheap (in the saving $ sense ;) ), but I'm not going to drive myself crazy to save a few cents on soap. But we all have things that we are frugal about that others wouldn't hesitate to throw away.

Oh, gosh, this is one of my secret little obsessions. I LOVE to use something completely up, whether it's a soap sliver, a candle, the last of the conditioner, etc. I get really pretty excited (well, comparatively speaking - after all, it's just soap!) when I'm getting close, and I'll move that sliver to the sink and use it to wash my hands until it literally dissolves. So much fun!!!!

A saner person would probably just throw it away....

I'll ask him tonight if it excites him and if it's so much fun!!!!!!!

Wow now I know why there are still bars of soap in the stores. I didn't think people still used them. :rotfl2: I learned something today. :thumbsup2

I have shower gel, also, but I usually use bar soap. The reason is because it's quicker. I'm Miss Type A in the shower and don't want to wait to turn the shower gel upside down and wait for it to come out of the container. :rotfl2: I do use it sometimes and I don't know why I'm so impatient when I can spend all morning on the DISboards doing a lot of nothing, but I am.

Duh, leave it upside down (that's why most have flat tops), pick it up, pop open and sqeeze. Sheesh. Takes less time than to return 50 cents.

That's what I'm saying! :thumbsup2 I hate bar soap, it leaves behind a scummy mess, and clean up is a pain in the back end.

We don't throw them away. We make the sliver wet and the new bar wet and then press them together really hard. After about 20 seconds they are essentially one. No waste.

Ivory, in case you're wondering.

:confused3 I just don't feel as clean with shower gel or liquid soap for the shower. I love my dove bar of soap.
I even carved a into a bar of soap one day "I Dove You" and left it for DH. It was Valentines Day years ago and I'm sappy. :upsidedow

Awwwwww..................

And I'm afraid shower gels are NOT an option..........dh is VERY particular about what soaps and toilet papers come into our house.

I would hate to give up bar soap!!!!! I love to find new ones - that's what I usually buy on vacation as a souvenir. I got a bunch of really nice English soaps at the gift ship in the England pavillion at Epcot one year. I have some pretty honey ones that have a bee embossed on the front that I love, too. And the last time I was at the France pavillion I got a bar of Guerlain soap - I think it was $18!!!! You'd better believe no one else was allowed to touch or use it!!!!

I love soaps! At some point I will probably use up more of my "stash" of them and go to a mild cleanser in a gel form. Then I can have fun using up the last little drop!!
