When do you think the AP rates will be released for Jan & Feb?

I just called and changed my stay Jan 15-22 at POFQ from the winter rate of 30% off to the AP rate room only and saved $62. We haven't decided if we are going to do the dining plan or the TIW yet. What would you fellow disers do? It will just be me and DH this trip and we already have dining ressies for everynight. I know the dining plan would be an extra $645.72.

I did the same exact thing....switched from 30% to 35% at POFQ starting Jan 15:thumbsup2 We are going to try the TiW card & see how that goes. We will use a dining plan for our trip in June.

Congrats on getting AKL CL with AP. It can be hard to book AKL CL with a discount. If you've never tried AKL CL I would stick with that. I really enjoyed it there!:thumbsup2 (I've never done GF CL though.:rolleyes1)

They seemed to have plenty of availability at AKL for our dates, so it was easy! :thumbsup2

Were you able to see animals from your balcony? That's what I'm hoping for! ;)

My DH decided he wanted to do the Dining plan. We have been dieting for a year and this is going to be a vacation and he wants the dessert and snacks. I would rather of done the TIW and shared counter service meals to save on money. When we go in Sept my DS will be 3 so we have to pay for him now. DS9 will be 10 and have to do the adult DP. I still am still trying lose what I gained this pass September from the DP, I will be eating alot of the sugar free dessert. I may just have to wait till after the Holidays and this trip to lose the weight, just have to keep exercising so I don't gain anymore.

Hoping to get one of the referb rooms in building 7.

We stayed AK CL in August (got 40% off - great deal:thumbsup2). I LOVED it!!!! Yes, we could see the animals from our balcony. When we first got there, there was a giraffe so close I felt like I could pet him:goodvibes There were always animals whenever we looked out, just different ones throughout the day. It would have been even better if it wasn't so hot & we could actually enjoy sitting out there:sunny:

The CL was fantastic also. I really enjoyed the breakfast offerings (moreso than those at WL). It was just an overall great place & I would love to go back again! For now, we are trying out new places on the next couple of trips.

Have fun!!!

Was able to snag an AP rate for our ressie, so saved another $65 and change, so it will just about "wash" with the TIW card...:cool1: Love it! Good luck to the rest of you trying for the deals....

Thank you! That's totally what I'm hoping for. I'm bringing my Northface, because I may have the opposite problem of it being too cold for the balcony! :thumbsup2

We decided to book last night under the GP since it was ending. All that was available at POP was a preferred room. I saved $180 on our 9-night stay with the AP rate but I downgraded to the standard room since this was what I really wanted anyway. So I'm pretty happy with that savings.:goodvibes

Booked last night with a GP. Then today the AP rates come out and it was a savings of 50.00 for 4 days in Jan @ CBR. So I called back and ended up with a better rate and I added dining. I had a great rate at $107, but the AP saved me even more. I am very happy.:goodvibes

Called to change my marathon rate at POR to AP rate. This is exactly what the guy told me to do when I booked in September and made my deposit. Spoke to Tori on the passholder line - all rooms at moderates and values have already been taken and I can't re-book.

We're supposed to pay in full as of today; I figured rates would be out earlier and there would be more availability! She told me if I pay the rest and then have to change later, I'll lose $200 for canceling and re-booking. If I don't pay, I'll lose my reservation in seven days.

Any tips?

I checked dates around that time (1/6-1/10) on the passholder website. The rates are really high and they didn't have anything for value and just CBR (pirate room) for moderates. CBR for those four nights priced out about the same as WL. :scared1:

Great, I missed it. We just returned from a 10-day Thanksgiving cruise when the AP rates came out for January. I called last night but those rates are gone for our Pop Century dates.

So, I had accepted staying at POR (our favorite) for the Marathon Basic rate because nothing was available in a mod for the passholder rates during marathon weekend.

I called to add the dining plan to our package today after running the numbers.

While I waited on the passholder hotline, I checked the website for passholder plus dining packages once again. For our three-night say, Wilderness Lodge with dining plan is now $806!

I had the guy on the passholder line quote me both the Wilderness Lodge price I saw online and adding dining to my current package at POR, and WL was cheaper by over $100!!!!

So, I just switched my three-night stay for Marathon weekend to WL! I couldn't be more excited. :cool1: We have always wanted to stay there - it's totally our favorite deluxe! This is going to be our last Disney trip for a while; we are letting our passes expire so we can take some vacations to places other than Disney (we are silly, I know) so it's going to be so awesome to stay deluxe for "our last hurrah!"

Lucky! I'm assuming you're staying Fri/Sat/Sun... I just checked our rates since we're staying at CSR with the marathon rate Thur/Fri/Sat and it was $1,029 for WL :scared1: But Fri/Sat/Sun was $613! That Thursday must be killing us!

Just got the room we really wanted w/the AP ratge in Jan/feb. We just wanted POFQ standard, but originally only the king bed room was available. Kept checking, and today got the standard room! Saved us $130 from the king rate. So keep checking!

We wanted to stay somewhere cheap for the Thursday night before our stay at the Poly for the half-marathon. This past weekend, I was checking places both off- and onsite and saw a good AP rate at ASSp and kept it in mind. Of course, last night when I went to book it, there was no more availability at the AP rate. But this morning, it was back, so I booked it!

I seriously do not understand how passholder rates work. Last night Wilderness Lodge showed availability under the passholder rate for our January dates in almost every single category. We called to make sure there were two rooms available in standard view since we're traveling with another party and the CM said she was showing at least two standard view rooms, along with other views if I was interested. Called again first thing this morning to book -- only AP rate available was for the honeymoon suite :headache: That's what I get for waiting! Maybe they'll appear again soon :goodvibes

I noticed that, too. I've been checking almost every day (just for fun...I think), and WL showed a ton of availability for the AP rate just this past week, but today it only shows 2 room types, both with bunk beds. Also, it looks like AP rates are sold out on weekends for some of the resorts, so they are charging full price on weekend nights (this happened when the last AP rates were released, too). So...look at the per-night cost carefully, and make sure you are getting the AP rate for all nights. If not, try another resort.

I did it!! WL AP rates were BACK for my week today so I called and changed my reservation. It cost a total of $11 to switch from CSR to WL with the AP rate. I'm traveling with a friend and it ended up actually saving him about $30 to make the same switch! I'm so excited!

$11 to upgrade??? That's awesome! I think we're at $800 or so for 7 nights at POFQ, but the only rates I saw for WL now (woods view w/bunk beds) would be over $1400. So that's a little to much per-night to tempt me at this point. Plus, we don't want bunk beds.

Of course, I said I'd be fine staying at a mod...but I'm a resort-changer at heart.
