When do you take down your Christmas decorations?

Did ours yesterday. Very sad. Decorations down and son's back at college. I will be very sad when daughter goes back to college next weekend. Hate this time of year.

New Years Day! Everything was put away by last night, indoor and outdoor decorations.

My son's birthday is today (jan 2) and we take ours down on the 31st or new years day. We've been doing it that way for 16 years!

WOW! Do I feel like Scrooge. Took tree and inside stuff down December 27th! Took outside stuff down (was off since the 27th) on Thursday December 30th as it was in the 50's in mid-west and it makes it easier. Had tree up since right after Thanksgiving so it was time.

This is the earliest we have been taking stuff down that I can ever remember. Since it was in the 50's New Years Eve took down the outside decorations.

Then New Years day took down most of inside.

Working on the tree today all the ornaments off.

Will finish next weekend. Always too tired after work.

It does look so dark and dreary now.

Epihany came early this year our church celebrated this Sunday.

We took them down today. Usually for us the first weekend after new years.

Took everything down today, but that is a personal decision for every family. I don't think there is a right or wrong time.

Cleaned the mantle and the ornaments a few days ago. Took the lights off the tree and took it out today:( Lights off the house too. Will do the Dept 56 house next weekend-too tired to climb:) Valentine's Day stuff up now-haha. Just a few little candy dishes, towels, etc.

Everything was taken down the day after Christmas, except for the stuff outside---it's been too cold to take care of that. Call me Scrooge!

My mother was very superstitious and always told us that is was bad luck to take anything down until after the New Year. Therefore I will not take anything down under after the first. We just finished. I just want to start the year out right!

Aside from our Christmas room where it's Christmas year round, the other decorations are up until at least mid January,a couple of years we kept them up until February or March.

Please don't hate me, but I take them down as soon as the kids open the gifts and start playing, Christmas day :goodvibes

There is just so much stuff, I just have to get back to normal. Luckily the kids don't notice much :thumbsup2

My son's birthday is today. I have always made it a point to have all Christmas stuff down before his birthday. I just always wanted it to seem that it was his special day and not an extension of Christmas. We never wrap his presents in Christmas paper, etc. We have taken our tree down as early as Dec 26 (when we had a real tree due to dryness) and as late as Dec 31.

Mom and Dad having out patient surgery - took mine down on Sunday and Monday

We took down the tree and inside stuff today - took down the outside stuff a couple of days ago before the (thunder)storm!

I like to keep the tree and all up the week after Christmas because it's tradition (to keep it up until at least New Year's Day), and that's when I can truly relax and enjoy it! I like to sit with a cup of coffee in front of the tree and fireplace and listen to Christmas music - even after Christmas - because I've finally slowed down then!

I must say I'm glad to have it all down now, though. It's time!

Happy New Year!!!:goodvibes

I take down everything New Year's day.

I really enjoy it when people leave the outside lights on until Epiphany, but IMO after that is time to take them down.

Inside your own home is your own business, what ever makes you happy. :)

Count me in as I take our tree/decorations down on New Years Day or the day after. This year I started yesterday and finsihed today. All packed up just need to move the boxes to the attic. It is sad but now I can look forward to it next year!

Also, as someone else posted, I like relaxing in the living room w/ the tree all lite and a some tea or wahtever and take it all in as the rush is gone and I can enjoy my decorations!

With all this said, everyone has there own ways and each one is OK. Do whatever you feel like.

Happy New Year all!
