When do you take down your Christmas decorations?

New year's weekend for us, we start taking down the outside stuff and I usually have everything inside put away by the 2nd day the kids are in school!
And it looks like I will be ahead of schedule this year! the only thing left to tackle is the tree and getting everything back in boxes!

Mine's all packed up on the 27th. I like to get my house all cleaned up prior to 1/1. I pack up the decorations on the 27th and spend the next couple of days cleaning out closets and old files. By the time I go back to work (tomorrow!), my house is all clean and organized for the new year! :thumbsup2

Tomorrow is the day...I take everything down the day the kids return to school. As for OP, if you want everyone to see your house decorated I don't see an issue with that.

New Years Day - decorations are packed and put away now, and the early spring decor is out.

We are Catholic - so officially our Christmas Season lasts until the first Sunday after January 6th when the Baptism of the Lord is observed.

We sing Christmas songs/carols at Mass/Church until then.

My Mom's birthday is January 1st - so growing up we NEVER had our decorations down until well after New Years.

We will start taking our Christmas decorations down this week - and hope to be finished by the weekend.

Our Nativity will be the last thing to be packed away.

Christmas isn't a here and gone Holiday in our home.
Christmas is a season - not a day.
I love to see other families with their lights and trees still up AND turned on after Christmas.

Now when I see lights still turned on in the middle of January - then I want to offer them help! HAHA :lmao:

December 26th!! Was so happy to have my house back to normal!

I usually wait until the middle of Jan. But i usually put up all my decorations. This year I only did the tree, ornaments, stocking and a few decoration. After reading your post 20 min ago I decided to go put everything away-lol! Then dh caught on and started taking down our fake tree. So we are officialy cleaned up. Dh just needs to put tubs in the shed but it rained tonight so he'll do it tomorrow. Thanks for the motivation:goodvibes

I'm ready to take down the decorations, but not the trees...especially my disney decorated tree in the living room. The trees will probably stay up for a few weeks still

My daughters birthday is January eigth and the decorations are usually still up. A couple of times I have actually worked the decorations into the party. One year my daughter wanted a pink party so I left the tree up but took the ornaments off and covered the tree in pink silk flowers and bows. My daughter and her guests loved her "birthday" tree and it was a simple party decoration.

I start to take my inside decorations down on New Years Day, but I put up two fake trees and LOTS of decorations so it takes a couple of days. This year, we took down our outside decorations on New Years Eve day (even though we hosted a party) because it was 55 degrees. If it was still cold, I would have no problem keeping the outside lights on until Jan. 6th.

I have a friend whose daughter has a birthday on Jan. 6th. She takes down the Xmas ornaments and transforms it into a "birthday tree" by adding streamers and balloons with a birthday hat on top! I think that is a very cute idea!

I don't see a problem with keeping the tree up until next Saturday.

Our decorations usually come down on New Year's Day and this year was no exception. I like to have the house back to normal before I go back to work and the kids go back to school after our two week break. DH and I just put the boxes up in the garage today. Sometimes they sit on the garage floor for a few weeks and get in our way but this time we did a good job!:)

We took our tree down on Dec. 28 this year because we were going out of town for New Years and didn't want to leave it sitting there drying out unattended while we were gone (except for the cats :scared1: ).

We took our outside decorations down today.

I just can't believe it's all over. :(

We usually take everything down within 2-3 days after Christmas. I am usually ready to get my house back to normal.
