When Do You Start Packing...

we're leaving in 10 days too and ideally I would like to get a good chunk of packing done this weekend, but I can't. I have a final exam to study my butt off for on Wednesday and a bunch of appointments to go to, as well as work still! No packing until the night before now haha. I hope I can make it:laughing:

I start laying aside things like toiletries and extra items we may need a few days before. That gives me time to go to the store and replenish any supplies we may be low on. Socks, extra underwear, books and shoes/sandals we're not using now but will be used on vacation go in at this time as well.

However, the actual clothes don't go in until the day of or the night before so they don't get wrinkled. About 24 hours before we leave, "the rule" goes into effect for last-minute packing and goes like this:

Anything personal that we've touched for the past 24 hours (deodorant, toothbrush, razors, etc) goes into a plastic bag after its last use and gets packed with the clothes.

I hate having a suitcase on the bed right before we leave because I like to run one last load of laundry and dishes, as well as change the bed, so I'll come back a clean house where I don't have to do anything but the laundry that was created while we were on vacation.

I make a packing list a month or so before we leave, then start gathering everything up about a week before and put it all on a table, then a couple of days before we leave I put everything into the luggage.

I typically pack the day before. BUT, I plan out what we are wearing (day by day) about the week before so I can wash things or stop DH from wearing them, etc.

I do all the packing for the family:headache:. I usually pack the night before and then recheck and add odds and ends throughout the night. I have been known to stay up till the next morning when it is time to leave, get the children ready, fed and pack the car:eek:. I then get my self ready and make sure that my husband is okay and we head out:banana:. I am the only one who never gets any sleep the night before the trip and even with me being so tired I'm the one who starts out driving :confused3. About 2 hours in I switch with my husband and I get some shut eye(not really just a snore) and I'm up again:rotfl:. This time I told my husband that I'm getting adequate sleep and everyone else will just have to fend for themselves:rolleyes1
