We're leaving on Dec. 6th. I'd like to start packing but I don't even know where to start. I kinda wanted to wait a big more to check out the weather. How early do you all start packing?

I start to pack when we book it!!! hahahahaha! A little at a time-depending on when we go. In Aug-you know its going to be hot-but we will go in Jan so I'll wait to see the forcast a few days before. That's probably the best way-check out the weather channels 10 day forcast-have a great trip!

Well, we usually go in September so I start packing early (about 2 or 3 weeks before departure day) since all of my summer stuff is still out. However, this year...not knowing what the weather will be like, I waited until I could get a 14 day forecast. We leave in 7 days and I am fully packed but for my makeup, hair straightener and wallet (all of which I need everyday!) However, I didn't think I would be packed until the night before we left! :)

Just start making lists of what you think you will need and brainstorm. Start putting the items in one place and that will at least give you a head-start! :) Have a great trip!

We leave Dec 11th and I've been packed - for the most part - for over a month. As soon as we start putting our summer clothes away, I start packing. I pull an assortment of summer stuff and put it in the suitcase. I don't even look at the forecast, it's been wrong in the past :scared1: . I simply pack for everything and plan to layer. We've been there in Dec in the high 70's and in the 30's.
We travel alot so our bathroom bags are always packed and ready.
I just have to pack some pants and sweatshirts and my camera and I'm ready to go.
Have fun!!:cool1:

I've never quite understood people packing so far ahead of time. I'm not putting anyone down for it mind you, I just don't understand why it is necessary. We pack the day before we leave. We make a list and make sure any clothes we want to take are clean a couple of days ahead, and buy all the supplies we need, but don't pack until the day before.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I started packing early for a couple of reasons. The first being because I was excited and it was something fun to do :goodvibes The second was because I had to have my kids try on their summer stuff to see what still fits. I'd rather know now and adjust the packing rather than wait until we get to Disney :rotfl: Since they were trying things on anyway and we wouldn't need them in the meantime, it was just as easy to pack them.

To the OP, we are leaving the same say as you and started packing about a week ago. We only packed what we knew we wouldn't need before the trip and finalize a day or two before we leave.

All I can say is WOW. We do laundry and get suitcases out the night before and pack maybe 2 hours before we leave for the airport. No lists.

We fly out on Dec. 3rd, but my grandparents are driving out on the Nov. 30th with our luggage. With Thanksgiving craziness, I'm planning on packing tomorrow afternoon after work.

:woohoo::santa:

I start my lists ASAP and make sure I have everything I'll plan on taking. I often travel overseas for 3-5 weeks at a time and I have to make sure I don't forget something important, like refilling my daily RXs or getting my pants hemmed.

I'll be in the World in 9 days and I'll probably finish my list this coming weekend and pack the night before.

I leave this Friday and have been packing for about two week!:rotfl: I pack a few things and then add a thing or two, here or there!

Two more working days after today!

We are leaving Friday morning, we'll pack Thursday evening once all the laundry is caught up. I do have a basic list just so I won't forget major things. If there is something that we do happen to forget, DH says not to worry there is a Wal-Mart not too far away.

We are leaving on the 6th also and I have been packing for a month. I am finding it very difficult because I don't know what the weather will be like. I decided to pack a few of everything and now it's just a matter of how much of each thing (pants vs shorts). I am going to check the weather as it gets closer and I'll adjust accordingly at that time. But as far as packing early, it gives me something to do and I have plenty of time so I am not feeling rushed. I doubt I will forget anything this way. I also get excited looking at the suitcases and knowing the trip is almost here. :thumbsup2

We leave on Wednesday and I just started putting stuff aside last night, only because I was putting away our laundry. I'll definitely be putting stuff in our suitcases starting tonight! I'm such a procrastinator!

We actually pack months ahead of time but that is generally because we tend to go in November, December and January when our spring and summer clothes have all been long packed away for the winter. If I know we are going to FL. I just pack the special Florida suitcases with our summer clothes when we pack all our light clothes away in September to bring out the winter clothes. All I have to add are socks and underwear and we are ready to go! :)

We don't go when its warm here in Jersey, so instead of packing our summer clothes away, I usually put them right into the suitcase. I have already started picking up little things that we will need. We go on Feb 6th.

we are leaving saturday morning. I had the suitcase out for about 2 weeks now just throwing in things here and there. Stuff that I know I will forget. But when I woke up and saw the snow this morning I am going to pack everything today.. I can look at the 15 day outlook. It looks like warm at first then cooler. http://www.accuweather.com/us/fl/or...tner=accuweather&traveler=0&zipChg=1&metric=0 go to this site it will help everyone out for next weeks weather! C you all there!!!!

We leave December 5th and I'm ready to start packing, but stressing over what to pack!!
I know the weather varies a lot, but I don't want to pack my whole house!

I have started on our toiletry bags, and the girls mini backpacks for the plane.

I'm really considering packing just pants / jeans, with a mixture of short sleeves, long sleeves, and sweats. (bathing suits & hats mittens too)

I can't imagine that it will be so warm that we would be uncomfortable in pants.... Plus, that cuts down a ton on the shoes that I will want to bring along for myself & dd's, lol...

Has anyone going this time of year, skipped shorts & capris, and just went for pants? It seems like it would be easier. The forecast, though far out, is seeming a little on the chilly side.

Have a great time everyone!

I am with the early packers, somewhat. In October, when it was finally time to put summer clothes away this year, I pulled out the items I wanted to take for our December trip and threw them in a carry on bag. This past weekend we started really thinking about what else we want to take (or trip is 12/13). We'll be quite busy with the holiday this weekend and that leaves only one more weekend to pack! :cool1:

Now I can: 1) see what I still need to buy and 2) try to whittle down what we are taking. I won't be 100% packed until the day before we leave.

My main problem is overpacking and I try so hard not to. My kids have so many cute Disney outfits that I want to take them all, but staying in a DVC 1 bd we do have a washer, so we could get by on just a few outfits. We also have to have a warm outfit or two along for evenings or cold fronts (Let's hope not!:wizard: ) Oh yeah, and I just realized the baby is transistioning up to a 2T size, so I may have to dig out my 2T totes this week.
