when do you start packing clothing?

I usually make sure clothes are all clean and set aside the week before and pack the day before leaving.

For our last trip, I was packed and ready to go Saturday night, and we left the following Friday. I started packing about 11 days before we left (I made a spreadsheet of what everyone was wearing each day about a month before). The reason was because I had to go away for work Sun-Wed and had a to facilitate a workshop the day before, so I knew I wouldn't have time to pack after that. It was funny Thursday night when my husband asked me how late I was gonna be up packing, and I told him I was packed and ready to go!

I must say, it was very nice having everything ready to go. I plan to continue to pack early in the future.

Usually I don't pack until a day or two before (I pack for my dh and dd). However, for this trip i'm on a roll :rotfl: . My dd (3) really needed some new things to take on vacatoion because a lot of the things that I bought in the Spring and early Summer are either getting short or they are stained from playing in them. So I caught one of Old Navy's sale and bought her a bunch of bottoms, tops, and new underwear and I went ahead and packed them. I had to restock on toiletries for home, so I went to Sams Club and bought shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, etc in packs of 2 and 3's and went ahead and put the extra things in our toiletry bag. We drive, so I just buy and bring the larger bottles and then just bring them home with us afterwards. My dh and I also caught the Old Navy Sale and we bougth some new shirts to take with us and I found a new bathing suit and all of that stuff is already in suitcases as well. I figure that it all had to be put away, so why not go ahead and pack it now and get it out of the way.

I find that if I give myself a week or two to throw random things in the bags as I pick them up, i'm less likely to forget anything. I find that as my dd gets older, i'm learning how to organize things better and I also find that I forget things less. :goodvibes

I think it depends more on when you go. We are doing an early spring trip so at the end of summer, I will put stuff in suitcases instead of in storage. I will also throw the princess/fairy clothes in the suitcases now as my girls don't generally care if they are missing. Travel toiletries haven't been unpacked from this summers vacations so they are ready to go.

A week prior.....I do all the packing for everyone except teenage dd. Plus we can pack our shorts and stuff before our trip because where we live we aren't wearing shorts anymore anyway. We pretty much wear matching shirts everyday....so again we can pack those and not have to worry about needing them here at home.

I buy them all new socks prior to our trip, so they are nice and thick and soft.....socks wear out quickly around here and start getting thin.

We can usually pack our Crocs too, by October we're wearing warmer shoes in Georgia :)

Our park stuff is in our Disney bag all year. Things like our spritzer fans, pressed penny tubes, travel hamper, travel bag, ponchos....etc. When we get home we just pack it all in our WDW rolling duffel and put it in the back of the closet so it's ready for the next year.

I pack ten days ahead and ship UPS 7 days before departure. One less thing I have to worry about the day before we leave. :yay:

I start at least a month ahead of the departure date.
I begin with "the lists"!!
Then I gather the bags and totes I will need for everything.
From there, I start filling them up with anything I can do without in the interim!
We leave Sep 5, and I already have 5 full bags/totes!!
Can't wait to be able to fill the rest!!

We will be there about the same time as you and in KY we are still wearing summer clothes. I wore shorts last Halloween in KY. I hope it stays warm in KY like it did last year.

We are not going until November, but I am already "collecting" things for our trip. I got DD a cute Minnie shirt at Target and a smocked princess top!! I will probably start packing 2 weeks before our trip and while the kids are at school because the trip will be a surprise!

Were in WV and last Halloween we were in shorts/flip flops trick or treating with the kids. We usually have warm/hot weather until the end of October, but last year, it was still around 50 degrees on Christmas day. It has been unseasonably warm here in the Fall/early Winter the last few years.

Wasn't it wonderful?

We are leaving in 12 days! Haven't packed anything yet. I will probably start packing next weekend. DS is still wearing all of his shorts. He is growing like crazy and I refuse to buy him any new shorts for this year so he is down to about a weeks worth that fit. I pack for ds and me. DH packs for himself. I have to work until the day before we go so I will probably be doing a load of laundry the night before. I have started throwing some of the travel size toothpaste, and stuff in the bags.

In answer to OP ? yes it seems to change as ds gets older.

I'm a Fall person and I like mild/cooler weather (not cold), but I do see the upside also. We have hot Summers and it seems like it skips Spring and goes straight to Summer here. We were under a severe heat adviosry almost the whole month of July and now the high was 75 degrees today, so i'm enjoying the cooler weather. The funny part is that i'll be leaving our cooler weather for hot and humid Florida soon...but Disney is worth it :) Sorry to get off topic on your post GatorMama :guilty:

I've got our suitcase situated down in our family room, and I've been adding things recently. So far, I've got DD's swim diapers, travel toiletries, and a few toys for DD packed. I'll add until we leave in three weeks!

Whenever we travel, I start cleaning all the clothes I want to bring a week before our trip and start pulling them aside so they don't get worn. I do a load of socks and underwear closer to departure. I start a list of things to bring for each person so I can check it off by segment and item. I start early because I pack for 3 people -- me and both kids (DH is on his own). Once the kids are old enough where I can just make a list and check as they pack, won't be AS bad but likely to still be work until they move out of the house!

I'm leaving in 2 months and already have my toiletries packed! I guess I'm a little excited. :rolleyes1 I've just been buying extras here and there and throwing them in my toiletries bag so I don't have the morning of rush where I'm throwing in wet stuff from the shower.

For clothes, I plan to choose outfits for each day and then put each outfit in a gallon size ziploc bag. Same thing for ds and my niece. I only have a 1/2 day off work before I leave, so I'm assuming I'll do all my packing the week before in the evenings while my kids are asleep

month before make list of what i'm packing and what i need to buy
2 weeks before start figuring out outfits for family ( not matching just what shirt can go with what shorts kind of stuff)
1 week start airing out luggage and folding
2 night before start packing clothing.

I tend to leave the carry on/toiletries stuff for the night before

We go in the summer, and end up doing summer clothes shopping every year. So, when we go on a trip to WDW, we will buy some new clothes and put them away some where, but don't actually pack until the evening before we leave.

We generally go in oct and april. Both times of year here it is not quite or all done being shorts weather. About 2 weeks before i will start packing shorts and other items we do not need daily. Sun screen, sandals etc. About a week before i start packing everything else.
