Sometime in September, we'll put fall stuff up. We haven't really done a lot of Halloween-specific decorating since our kids were little.

I just responded to you because you said it’s silly to wish your summer away. I was explaining that not everyone who enjoys Halloween decor is wishing their summer away.

Anyways….you mentioned not rushing the seasons. Do you think it’s too early to decorate for Christmas before December 21st? Just curious.
Um this is silly. I gave my opinion. You disagree. That is it.

I don't! Why? Because keeping up with the old age stereo-type, I'm a grumpy old man and you should stay off my lawn. Or because I live in a over 55 apartment building, internal entry, passkey external entrance so no one comes to the door. I still buy candy so it looks like I am in the, pardon the expression, spirit, but I eat it all myself.💀☠️👻

Okay. If you don’t want to answer fine.
But I was being genuine.

Some people define season as the technical/exact 3 month season and others talk about the season as more of a well, Halloween is over and now the Christmas season is upon us kind of thing. I just think it’s an interesting conversation.

I don't decorate for Halloween specifically. The fall stuff comes out the middle of September, and I have a ton of it. It will stay up until the weekend before Thanksgving when Christmas explodes in my house.

Don't do exterior decorating for holidays. Halloween interior decorating goes up mid-September.

We have a lady in our area who goes all out with seasonal decorating of her house and yard. But her Halloween decorations won't go up until after her Labor Day, Patriot Day, First Day of Fall and Columbus Day decorations have come and gone.

Halloween is my favorite day of the year, and I have as many Halloween decorations as I do Christmas, including a black Halloween tree with ornaments! So I decorate early in order to enjoy it and so it feels worth the effort of getting everything out. I typically put everything out mid-September unless it's still ridiculously hot out - then I'll sometimes wait until the first day of official fall. I do have some Haunted Mansion, Disney villains, and Harry Potter things out all year, so my decor is already halfway there.

Nope too early. I guess Disney wants to get started on Halloween parties but it's summer here. Cottages, lake life. Not even thinking about fall. School doesn't even start for close to a month yet why wish away summer holidays. That is silly
Not wishing it away, going back to school in a few weeks and as a teacher, starting to get the back to school blues, so believe me, I'm not wishing the summer away!!

But if I can get in a little extra bit of decorating happiness and pumpkin pixie dust while we anticipate the next season while still enjoying and soaking up this one, then bonus! :)

Generally early October is when it's gotten to the point where the weather is more suited for it. I tend to get pumpkins 2-3 weeks before Halloween (earlier than that and you risk a higher chance of rot because of the warm temps) and then when we decorate for Christmas in mid-November we'll toss the pumpkins in the backyard to compost/be food for the wildlife.

Some years I can do late September if the weather had a snap but most of the time it's just too hot for me to be thinking about fall nor Halloween. Then you have other years where it cold snaps early. Early October can be too hot at times too but at that point it's either put it out or don't lol.

I love a Halloween tree!! I'm right there with you with the HM and HP decor all year too!!

I think it is too soon to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving and think mid-December is early enough.
I don't really decorate for Thanksgiving and while I celebrate it it doesn't have anything to do with being a marker (for me that is) for decor.

One of my fall decor has a turkey on it but says "welcome fall" another item does have something about blessings but otherwise it's about harvest or fall or Halloween. I have only a few things for outdoor for fall or Halloween most are inside.

Putting outside decor up too late and you risk even more issue with weather. Mid-November when we put up our outdoor stuff because our HOA allows for it starting November 15th, here it can already be 30s/40s you might get lucky and get 50s and 60s. Most of the time if it's warmer it's when the sun is starting to lower making putting up lights and stuff not as feasible. Some people for sure wait even until December (even sometimes just a week or two before Christmas) to do outside stuff but I don't envy them.

This year Thanksgiving is November 28th the latest it can be. My fingers don't really want to think about how cold they would be then holding the ladder while my husband is stringing the lights :cold:
