I keep reading conflicting things...some say 4-6 weeks...others seem to be sending them out months in advance.

4-6 weeks for us us going to be around Christmas/New Years...I don't want to get lost in with all the Christmas cards, lol.

For Destinations weddings I've read anything from 6 weeks to 3 months.

I'm sending mine at 3 months because I want to give people time to book rooms and I'm ocd and want to set my rsvp date about 2 weeks before I really need to.

I'd say with Christmas to send them out around Thanksgiving or a bit before so they don't get so lost in it.

I sent mine out at 3 months because I suspect people will have to see if they can get time off from work and then book travel. A month notice really didn't seem enough for me, even though people knew about this through the Save the Dates. I have to have a final guest count on the 25th of September so I put an RSVP date of September 1. RSVPs are slow in coming mostly because everyone is saying "oh you know I'm coming, I don't have to send back the RSVP!" :headache:

I would send them out before Thanksgiving - I agree that you should get them out before they get mixed in with the Christmas cards! :santa:

For destination weddings you should send them out around 3 months... But since you are having yours around Christmas/New Years, I'd send them out earlier. I'd also send out save the dates around 6 months. Christmas is spendy travel time, so the earlier they can book their flights and hotel rooms, the better.

:goodvibesThanks everyone!!

We aren't have the wedding around Christmas...the invitations would go out around Christmas.;)

I also had a problem with Christmas so I sent them out the first week of November for my February 2nd wedding. My RSVP date was December 31st although nobody EVER sends the darn things back.

I think it depends on how many people you're inviting and how in touch you are with them. We're having around 75 and have been asking people for a while if they actually planned on going (...were they actually saving money for it, or not?) Because of this, I'll be going by the 4-6 week mark. However, if we hadn't been asking I would definitely sent them out earlier. And I would definitely send them out before Christmas cards. Not just because they could get lost among all of the mail, but because people are generally busier during that time of the year and may be out of town anyway.
