Two different types of luggage tags, two different systems, two different purposes ....
Anyone who books a
package through the Walt Disney Travel Company receives souvenir luggage tags. These are hard plastic, approximately credit card-sized, and are decorative, with some sort of design on one side. On the other side is a clear plastic sleeve, and inside there is a card where you can write your name and other identifying info. By the way, even if you use a
travel agent, you are still booking through WDTC, so this applies to everyone who books a
package.
Disney's Magical Express are completely different. They are paper, not hard plastic. They are long and are made of sticky yellow paper. These pieces of paper are pre-printed with several pieces of info: your name; the "master" name on the reservation (so if that's you, your name is on there twice); your reservation number; a couple identical barcodes; the name of your resort; and a 2-letter code inside a Mickey head silhouette signifying the luggage delivery zone your resort is in (MK, EC, AK, or DD).
You place one DME tag on each checked bag. After your luggage arrives inside your room, you should remove (rip off) the DME tags -- they have served their purpose and will never be used again.
The hard plastic souvenir tags are sent with a WDTC return address.
The DME tags are sent with a Disney's Magical Express return address.
