When do you prefer to do a Halloween/Christmas party during a trip and why?

Just curious what people usually do when they plan to go to a Hallowwen/Christmas party during their trip. Do you like to start your trip off with the party early in the trip? Or do you like to save it to the end as a nice ending to a trip?

We’ve done both. I prefer earlier if I have a choice.

I would never do a party the night before check out, especially if you like to stay til the end of the night. Way too stressful trying to haul everyone out of bed in the morning to pack and get out. Lol.

🤔 It really varies by trip. For many years we did TWO Halloween Parties in one week. We would do Sunday and Friday. We don't do two anymore. I am booked for Sunday party on upcoming trip. We arrive Sunday. Then parks Mon-Fri. The parties are so crowded now to really cover what you want to do there is no resting, so I prefer to do it on arrival while I'm full of energy. Park days we take our rest moments.

If I were there for a longer trip I wouldn't maybe mind the party being later in trip with that day being a rest day, that is how we did it for years. We'd do a nice breakfast or we'd be at the pool a few hours doing a nicer late lunch. We were rested up for the party (and fed). It also gives you something special to look forward to later in the trip.

Our December trip I am looking at doing the Sunday party again. AND having that inner turmoil if I want to do the Jollywood Nights too but on the weeknight.

We actually love doing a party on our last night IF we have a late flight the next day. We know we can go out with a bang and we don't have to wake up early the next morning to buy Genie or feel a big drive to get moving to get into the parks. This year, we're doing the party our last night, and our flight isn't until 6pm the next day, so we'll sleep in and grab a nice brunch somewhere before heading to the airport.

When it comes to possible bad weather. If you book a party for early in your trip and that night has bad weather, are they more likely to give you a raincheck for a party later in your trip? Or does it not really work that way?

We try to do schedule our party days for the first few days of the trip. That way if a storm occurs, we (in theory) have a backup party day. I'm not sure how well this strategy will work if the later party is sold out.

I much prefer the Christmas Party. I love the Halloween party and the Sanderson Sisters can't be beat, but I feel like the crowd is larger and that makes it harder to move about. Still love that party, but if you're asking, which one.... MVMCP. ...or maybe I just prefer cookies over candy.

I haven't done one, but Ideally, I would put it in the middle of the trip, with our rest day the day after.

I've done both. I prefer Christmas, but that's mostly because I like Christmas as a holiday more than Halloween. Anytime I've done a party, it's always been on a long weekend trip (W-Su), so we've done the Friday night party.

When we go to parties, that is why we are going. We will get to the resort on day one, go to the party on day two, then leave on day three. Two nights.

My trips are in August, so I tend to pick based on the day of the week. If I can go on a Tuesday, I pick that over Friday. I try to avoid the 1st Halloween party simply because I prefer to have all the info about the party's offerings -- snacks, Magic shots, entertainment times, character locations and greetings etc. If I had a choice, I'd rather go on my last night than my arrival night. That being said, I'm going to two parties - the 2nd party (Tuesday) and the 3rd party (Friday) which are nights 3 and 6 of my 9 night trip.

When we used to do them we would plan them early in the trip in case of bad water. We also found our group had more energy for late nights early in the trip. With that said we haven’t attended one in years. We found them to be too crowded for what you are paying for a party ticket on our last few times attending the parties.

We are more Christmas than Halloween people so that would always be our first choice but, we're doing Halloween this year as our trip is in August.

For us it's personal season preference that drives my answer.

Middle of our trip (Christmas). If it’s at the end, I would think too much of the trip being just about over and put a bit of a damper on the party.

I feel the same way. I'd be in my head saying "only 2 more nights until we leave" the whole party. It's a sickness and I do this everywhere we travel. 😂

We're arriving on a Monday in late Aug. from the west coast. We're doing MNSSHP the next day (Tue) for the simple fact that we can sleep in a little (arriving from HI and WA, that time difference is wretched), have a nice breakfast, maybe lounge by the pool, and then arrive around 1pm with our reg. park tickets. I took the advice to do the party earlier due to potential weather and cancelling of party. I think we'll have more energy earlier in the trip as well.
