when do you pack?

we dont leave until another 33 days but even today i was out buying some summer clothes and making a list of things i need! i get so excited its hard not to start packing and thinking of things to get when it is almost a month away!

thank you all - I feel that I am a little behind the eight ball here - well I guess I am not to bad off - we have purchased everything we will need - I think - like new shorts/shirts and bathing suits - now its a matter of getting it into the suitcase - I also have things like ponchos, crystal light to go, pop up hampes and such that I have been buying all along - but when I suggested to the family we start getting things in the suitcase - they looked at me like I was crazy - maybe because I am the one who usually does all the packing they don't know how long it takes..... well tomorrow the suitcases come out and I hope to be ready by Sunday - thanks for your comments!!!!!

I bought my kids new summer clothes 2 weeks ago and bought me new stuff this weekend ( shhh don't tell hubby I spent 500 on me and 300 on the kids ...him 0, but look on his face when he finds out ...PRICELESS ) lol I plan on starting to pack it sometime this week I am like others I pack then I double check then the nite before take it all out and check again haha

MAGGIED I just noticed you're practically my neighbor. I see you're going to SOG so obviously someone has to be in the military. Just wondering which branch of the military. I have a friend in the 174th reserves. Anyway, have a wonderful trip to WDW.

We aren't leaving til next Thursday but i have had the suitcases out for 2 weeks - cuz i had to dig out and wash old summer clothes as well as shop for new ones...and we won't need them before then
i roll everthing too

We get packed, at the most, a week before we leave. If we packed our clothes any earlier we'd be wearing the same 2-3 outfits repeatedly all week! LOL

We do make a packing list about 2 months in advance though, that way we have time to look it over once or twice, to see if we have left anything out. Were way too excited the week before to remember everything without one.

We leave Friday morning and I haven't packed a THING. I have picked up a few odds and ends but I am going tonight to get the final things and then tomorrow I will be packing. Also add to this that I still have to fill out the form to get an extension on my taxes before we can leave.. YIKES!! (this is my first year being self employed and my taxes are a DISASTER, I am afraid to even LOOK at them!! )

we are self employed and after I FINALLY got everything together for the accountant last month - I forgot about them - and I haven't heard from the accountant yet -
If I don't hear from him by the end of the week I better make a phone call before we leave!

Do people actually unpack between trips to WDW?

I'll start the packing planning months ahead just 'cos I'm such a WDW maniac!!!

but i'll "start" packing about a month before the trip just to make sure I don't forget anything.

But I only lay the things out on our extra bedroom bed or floor until a day or so before the trip just in case of wrinkles and flattened collars

With little time during the week and vacations that tend to be fit in and expanded around three day weekends I am horrible about packing and tend to do it the night before, sometimes even that day! ACK! We do have all of our Disney must have items, including our pins and park tickets, in a separate suitcase for storage so they are easy to find. I have never had a trip ruined by anything left behind, so this system, if you call it that, seems to work!

We are not going untill the end of December and I already have a plastic box with a lid that I started putting stuff into in late Jan or early Feb. I am putting stuff init that I pick up when i am out like ponchos and stuff like that. I bought an over the door shoe rack a couple of days ago that I need to put in there. Also I wrote on the lid a little message to my kids. I wrote on it "WDW STUFF DO NOT TOUCH". My kids love to mess in everything but they have been told mess with Mommy's WDW box and you will be in big trouble.

I usually start a few days before-ironing clothes, getting toiletries bagged...things like that. So much fun!!!
