How far in advance do you normally pack?

Do you have a packing list that you follow? Care to share?

We leave on Saturday and I have yet to start packing. I'm made some small piles in my bedroom floor of things I need/want to pack, however I doubt I'll start until Friday. I don't use a packing list, I just pack what I think I need and try not to over do it.

I will be packing the day before, I hate walking around suitcases,a nd my cat get upset because she knows something is up.

As for tips, I look here on the boards or at allears.com to see what I am missing. One of the best tips was the llbean travel bag, that folds out and you can hang it on the bathroom door. I loved it!

I also take a plastic bag with us as someone is ALWAYS sick. Last time my poor DD daughter threw up on the qay to the airport.
My motto is its not a vacation unless someone vomits!

I have a list I got on one of my Disney sites - of course I always get the 3 of them mixed up so I could not tell you which one it was I don't think I will need it but I just want it to make sure I did not forget anything - like stopping the mail or packing the phone/camera chargers.

We still have a week to go so I am not packing yet, but I had to get our bags from storage. I have been putting a few things in one of the bags, just little things that we are not using right now but will need on the trip. A few minutes ago I just finished ironing a couple of nicer things we want to wear and also have a pile of Summer clothes we can't wear up here anymore.... geesh, that sounds like packing!

I made myself a list on Microsoft Word & check things off as I pack them. I have 12 days to go & am starting to pack. I have the suitcases in the attic for now. I'll make dh carry them down when they're full.

When we went in May I started packing about a week before. Like when I washed the new summer clothes (it was still kinds cold here) I would put them in the suitcases, and new socks and undies. We don't leave for 34 days, but I have washed all summer things and have thrown them into suitcase.

We go in about 10 days, but I got so excited, I packed at least 2 months ago. We are going for 4 days for a quick 33rd Anniversary Trip and to see my daughter and son-in-law who moved to Florida. Since it's only 4 days, we are only doing Carry-on and the one personal item, which is my purse.
We seem to do a lot of trips, so I keep a toiletry bag that is always packed and ready to go. It has make-up, toiletries, hairbrush, comb, nightlight, pills, everything needed for any trip. I have duplicates of everything needed that are kept in this quick get-a-way bag. That way, I only have to pack clothes and P.J.'s pretty much. Makes packing go a whole lot quicker.
So everything's packed now except 3 shorts and 3 T-shirts. I may go run and do that now!!!!!!!
Boy am I ready to get on the plane!!

I'm starting to pack soon! Leaving on November 19th and I figured it was a good time to transition my summer close out of my closet and into my suitcase and move my winter clothes into the closet I would definitely make a long list and check items off as you pack them!

Right now, I leave in just under 3 months. I have out my backpack that I'm going to use as my carry on, and I've been throwing little items into it as I collect them so I don't lose/forget them. For example right now I have in the (lime green!) hanging organizer I picked up at IKEA and a lot of the little travel toiletries I got at Target about 2 weeks back. This way I'm clutter-free and everything I need is in one place for when I pack.

As for packing suitcases, I start to get my clothes together about a week before in case I need to run out and get something, and get everything washed and folded. I take the day off of work (since I go during school breaks I have no classes) and pack everything up and have my dad take it downstairs. This year I leave January 3rd, so I'll be packing earlier in the week than usual and then just do my purse the day before I go, even though I'll be off that day.

Whew! I never realized how complicated I am. I also have Word and Excel checksheets haha!!

not packed per say,
but i have begun putting items bought on clearance into a pile in the attic, and the summer clothes will make it up there soon.
we leave in 120 days or so.

in general, i start getting things organized and laid in a suitcase
about a two weeks before any trip, not just WDW.
that way i know what we have, and what i need to get to avoid last minute running around.
the "travel bag" is packed right before we head out the door ( personal items, razors, etc)

great post. I was just wondering the same thing....when do disers start packing. We leave in 14 days and am sooooo excited! I bought a new backpack from Target with lost of pockets for organization as well as a few front pockets. I bought some travel size toiletries from Target also. All summer clothes are washed just need to press a few things. I am going to try my sisters idea and pack the kids outfits, undies and sock in storage bags with the day on them so there is no confusion on what goes together or what they are wearing. We too purchased our airline tickets well in advance so we are grandfathered in regarding baggage. I so want to start packing but then that will leave me nothing to do on Sunday or Monday when we are leaving! So I guess I will wait..........and continue to talk with my dis friends

We are leaving in 13 days, and I am going to start packing this weekend. It is our Thanksgiving, so it is a long weekend! Our weather is already really chilly, so our warm weather clothes are sitting in piles in our closets ready to be packed! It has taken a lot of patience on my behalf not to pack!! What helps is that we have a smaller home and having suitcases laying around would be a hasel! We too booked under the old luggage restrictions, so we are allowed 2 pieces of checked luggage each, which helps when you are going for two weeks!

Returned from FL 15 days ago - returning in 15 days - todays the 1/2way point!

i never really unpacked - just took out what i know i wont be needing - and added a few more items - (yes I did do the laundry!)

Wow- I feel lame, I am leaving in 2 days and my suitcases are totally empty!!!
I am very excited, I just hate walking around suitcases!
I am taking the day off from work the day before to get everyone packed, as I am the main packer.
I am really goign to try hard NOT to overpack this time..

Well I started packing 3 weeks ago. Now I have no motivation to do it! I say every night I'm going to take apart the suit case and see what I have done so far and every night I avoid doing it....Procrastination at it's best folks!
