When do you feel like you're "HOME" when you FIRST hit the WORLD??

Of course everyone has a different "thing" that makes them feel like they are "HOME" when they get to Disney. I've read several threads on this, but every once in awhile, a new one pops up with new people answering, and new "things". I thought that it would be a good way for all of us DISNEY lovers to think of great and familiar things in DISNEY, that would trigger a memory. :teeth:

For me, hitting the boardwalk. Walking down the stairs and seeing the beauty of the boardwalk in the afternoon, and eating at ESPN. DH and I have been going to the boardwalk FIRST ever since the first time he took me to DISNEY, on our honeymoon. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

What's yours?? Lets all think of the wonders of DISNEY and share with everyone!! It's a great way to get ready for all of our up coming trips! :cool1:

I feel at home as soon as we pass the gates to WDW!!! :mickeyjum

When we enter the carriage house at SSR and me and the girls take off for the gift shop while DH gets our room key! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes :Pinkbounc

Entering the MK.....makes me feel like a kid. And seeing all those "vintage" rides, LOL!

I feel at home as soon as I step out of the airport and realize...WOW!! PALMTREES!!!!....

My initial response is that the reason Disney is so special is that I'm not home. ;)

But in the spirit of your question, I would have to say there are a couple of things that really start the butterflies going . . .

1) We live in southwest Florida, so we take I-4 east to get to the parks. There is a set of electrical poles that parallel the road on the west side as you approach Disney, and one of them is shaped like Mickey. That's the first real indication that you're nearing the Mouse (because the rest of that permanently-under-construction road is pretty miserable.)

2) After exiting the interstate and getting onto the road toward MK, the roadsigns suddenly turn that amazing shade of purple.

3) The best anticipatory thrill, however, is once you're in the cool a/c of the monorail and looking down at the topiaries, then cruising through the contemporary, and finally watching Cinderella's castle getting ever closer in the distance. I thought I'd lost that feeling until I made that journey for the first time with my DD. The look on her face was better than any thrill ride I could ever experience.

Riding the tram to the airport bagage area at MCO. Like Princess Amy says WOW! I LOVE THOSE PALMTREES!! I am home again.

ALso, thru the gate at WDW! pixiedust:

The moment we enter the airport. It all begins there and only gets better upon arrival at MK. We end our first day w/ dinner at Chef Mickey's and back to MK for a few more rides. Just wonderful can't wait til our next trip. :goodvibes

We always try to get to Fantasmic our first night, our fave nighttime show @ WDW in our fave park! :) Then we take our time leaving the show & let the crowds thin out. We leisurely walk down the street & usually get to the store on the corner of Hollywood & Sunset where they sell the frozen drinks & the chocolate covered apples. We get 2 apples, have them cut into pieces and share them with a slushie while we sit on a bench looking at the Sorcerers Hat. Then we mosey out of the park. Ahh, can't wait to be back! :)

The bus depot!! Don't ask me why but after getting checked in (or throwing our bags into bell services), it's when we walk over to the bus stand to wait on the next bus is when I feel "home" Ahhhhh.

I break out into a huge grin as soon as i step onto main street so i guess it's then :teeth:

When we pull up to the guard office at WL and the CM there welcomes us home. Then we know we are in for a week (this year more!! :cool1: ) of magic pixiedust: :figment:

Actually I feel like I am home as soon as I step of the plane at MCO :goodvibes

As soon as we drive on Disney property and I start seeing all of the signs...I get giddy.

Setting foot on Orlando turf, getting on the DME bus and listening to everyone's laughter. I tear up when I first hit Main Street USA also, now that is home to me!!!!!!!
