When do you decorate your house for Christmas?

Weekend after Thanksgiving. I will NEVER do it early than that. When we lived in Turkey I usually waited longer. When we are in the US we are usually out of town for Thanksgiving so I do it the week after we return home.

DH birthday is Dec. 11, so we used to wait until after that. But now that we have DS, I think I'm going earlier if I have the energy. But it will be after Thanksgiving for us. Same as PPs here, I feel like we need to finish one holiday before starting the next. It made me laugh seeing all the Christmas stuff out before Halloween this year.

I am all about Christmas. I just love the lights, the music, the cheer. Up to two years ago we never put up the tree or lights until the weekend after Thanksgiving. However, two years ago, we started doing Christmas trips which took a lot of time away, so now I get it done earlier before we leave.

We also usually start the weekend after Thanksgiving for both outside and inside the house. We usually travel out of town to visit family over Thanksgiving but we are not traveling for the holidays this year since our new baby is due in less than two months. I think we are going to keep the decorating pretty simple this year, particularly with the outdoor stuff because the baby is due around New Year's and we don't want to have too much stuff to take down and put away this year.

Add us to the "week after Thanksgiving" list. We are also toning down this year and mainly doing the living room and a few outside lights. Last year it was EVERY room in the house...literally. After pondering spending another 3 days on each end setting up and tearing down, we decided we could live without a menagerie of snowmen in the loo this year.

Since right now I am currently waiting for the birth of baby #8 to take place. My due date is today. We will wait til after thanksgiving like we always do. I always wait for one holiday to end before starting a new one.

#8?? How do you have the time or energy to decorate at all? ;)

I used to put my tree up and decorate the house on Thanksgiving, but it seems I do it earlier and earlier every year. My tree is going up this weekend (Nov. 16) and it usually takes me a couple days to finish the whole house. I just bought a small tree to put in my boys room and that went up yesterday. I take everything down on New Years Day every year.

I am so excited to start decorating for Christmas. I am trying to hold off, but Christmas is in 47 days. That doesn't seen to far off. So when does everyone start decorating? Inside the house? Outside the house? Am I crazy to even be considering it? ( good thing my dh isn't on here, he would defiantly say I am crazy!)

We don't start decorating our house until like, the second week of December. We always get a real tree, and we keep the tree up a couple weeks after Christmas so we can't get it too early!

Sometimes the outside of our house will get decorated sooner. We only put up lights so it's not so big of a deal to have them up a little before Thanksgiving

I normally do it the Friday after Thanksgiving (not a shopper) but it will be the Saturday after this year. I decorate (if you want to call it that) for Halloween but it is more to get main power cables run and in place fore Christmas.

We normally decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving....however last year DH had knee surgery 11/14 so we got everything done prior to that. This year we are heading to WDW the Friday after Thanksgiving so again we'll be putting it up early this year.

After Thanksgiving. That's DH's rule, this year I have the itch to start a little earlier but mostly that's me freaking out that DD is due on December 21st and I want everything done as much as possible. Though he has let DS watch Christmas shows and we have started shopping.

I usually do it right after Thanksgiving during Thanksgiving weekend. Although this year Thanksgiving is a little late. While everyone is shopping their tales off, I'm putting up the tree and decorating the house. :)

As a family we go out and shop on Black Friday (well really we browse because our shopping is done before then.) So we usually put our decor out the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I have just pulled some of it out today so I could see if I needed to get anything:)

We put the tree up this evening. We'll decorate the outside the weekend after Thanksgiving.

The day after Thanksgiving. We have 1 in college and 1 in grad school do we have to do it when they are home since tradition has us all picking out the tree together

We have about a third of our Christmas decorations out year round. My nutcracker collection sits around the kitchen. There's a string of Christmas lights in the dining room. My mom's Santa collection and some of her Disney Christmas village are in the main hall. The living room clock singa Christmas carols every hour (except at night). We bring out the rest of the decorations on Thanksgiving to keep the kids (my dad included) occupied while we cook dinner.

Thanksgiving is late this year, so I will have my oldest DS and nephew help me haul everything out of the attic next weekend and start the house decorating. The tree doesn't come to the house until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I've got to find our Elf on the Shelf, too. My 2 little ones have been talking non-stop about him being at our house the morning after Thanksgiving.

We started our decorating this weekend. We're not hosting our family Thanksgiving this year so we can start a bit earlier. :cool1: It always makes that Christmas feeling seem a little longer on the off years. :goodvibes

Its been around 60 degrees here for the last 3 days so I've noticed alot of people in my subdivision have put up their Christmas lights, and most of them have them on.

We decorate starting the Friday after Thanksgiving. One day for outside decorations and one for inside including the tree.
