When do you children get out of school for summer?

WOW. Those of you whose kids are out this week, when do they go back in the fall? Here in Alberta we go to June 28 (and we leave for DL the morning of the 29th!). We go back right around Labour Day - sometimes the day after, and in recent years midweek the week before.

We start mid August and we had 9 Furlough days each of the past 2 years that we wont have next school year so we will go from Aug 16 to May 31 for the 2012-2013 school year.

This year we started Aug 17th and they will get out May 31st.
This coming school year they go back Aug. 22nd and get out June 1st.

We are leaving from the school (min day) next Thurs to head down!

Today (May 24th) here in Alabama. A new state law was passed that will mandate that all public schools in the state start no earlier than August 20th and end no later than May 24th. Good law IMO-helps the tourism on the Alabama Gulf Coast and saves on power bills with temps here in the mid 90s to low 100s in early to mid-August, plus our famous humidity! It was actually pretty cruel to have kids on a school bus in the afternoons at that time of year. When I was in school it was always Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Here in Nor. Cal. (east bay) my daughter gets out June 8th. Poor kid started the year in Elk Grove (Sacramento county), so she's been in longer than she was suppose to, haven't had the heart to tell her.

This is a major eye opener for me! In Canada, its always been out the last day of June (or closest weekday) and back the day after Labour Day (1st Tues in September). No wonder the crowd number peak so early and start going down by the middle of August.

Great news for us Canadians who want to go to Disneyland in August! That's still the middle of summer break for us!

Wow, silly me. We planned our trip for the 2nd week of June thinking there would still be a lot of kids in school, because we know of several schools that don't get out until the 15th. This is an eye-opener, for sure. No wonder the second half of August was awesome timing last year (though it was HOT).

Our district is out June 8th up here.

Our district gets out June 29 and will go back Sept 4, the day after Labour Day.

My younger kids go to a Charter School and get out today! But, the school district that we live in gets out June 1st. High School finals are done, so the last few days are no count days - so our DS 15 (high school) is hit or miss for school next week since it doesn't really matter.

We start Aug. 22nd and always get out the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend at the Charter School. It does make it hard to plan a mid August trip to DLR, though.

Yup San Jose here, usually it's early June for us, at least for public schools.

yep here in central cali its june 1st for us...gosh thats just next friday and would you believe its almost 11:15am and its barely 63º outside??? brrr its flippin' COLD today....

Haha yeah. The Bay since 1988 (got here just time for the Loma Prieta quake, score!) with a brief 5-year stint in West LA in the late 90's. Back in the Bay now due to better economy (funny statement after my previous post right?) but still head down to So Cal about every 2 weeks

yep you are about 2 hours north of me...i live in Merced....my daughter lives in Long Beach and thats only 25 min. from DL...so you know what that means...honey, mama's coming to visit...AGAIN!!!!
