I'm curious as to when you all begin your countdown clocks. Is it when you leave for the airport, board the plane, arrive, actually leave port, etc.?

Edited to add: I don't think I worded this properly. What I mean is, when I program my countdown clock, it asks for the day and time of the vacation, so do I put the time our plane leaves or the time the ship leaves or something else. The way it is now, I have it as the time the ship leaves. The reason is because I was looking at a new countdown clock, and it's more detailed than the one I have now. It counts down to the seconds. So this made me wonder when you all have your countdowns set for.

I guess the right way top ask is, according to your countdowns, when does your vacation begin.

I'm still interested so please respond!
Thanks!

Well, I personal feel like my vacation has begun when I leave for the airport so that's when I start mine.

the day I book it ... need something to look forward too ....

I start the countdown the minute that I know I'm going. I may not have specific dates yet, but close enough--I try to guess the first day that I'll be at the park. My second countdown in my signature may not be accurate (I can't remember, it's been so long since I started it), because I only just booked my cruise last week, and I still can't book my WDW stay yet...but it's in the same month, around the same time, and it gives me a little thrill to look at it! (Gee, I'm down to FOUR MONTHS until Disneyland!!!! Yay!!! :cheer2: )

I set my count down as soon as we knew we were going...and I put the final time as close to the time that I can guess that we will be leaving the house...of course now that we don't get down to the second...it's just the day were heading out...or close to it since we don't have our flights booked yet.

When I put the last piece of luggage in the car, in the wee hours
of the morning heading to the airport!!! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

Slightly OT, how do I get a countdown ticker in my signature? We're a long way out yet -- but I'm so excited I need to start counting down! (Doing a week at WDW and a 4day cruise in May, 2006.) :flower:

We count down to the time we anticpate boarding the ship, twelve noon.

Click on the link in my signature to take you to the website. That will create a code, which you then need to cut and paste into your signature.

I start my count down when we secure the dates we want to go with work and it ends when I am leaving the house cause that is when my adventure begins. Plus I want to be able to peek online to see it go to 0

I set mine for midnight (am) the day we leave.
Mine too does hours, but I just want to know what day I am leaving
makes it a little "sooner". (every second helps)

Thanks, thegales! I'm trying to set mine up -- so we'll see. I'm trying one of the tickerfactory ones. However, when I'm in the "edit signature" all I see when previewing is the url. So, we'll see if it works here. :)

Okay, it didn't work. What am I doing wrong? HELP!!!!
Try replacing "link" with "URL" and "image" with "IMG".

Back to the original question:
When I set up a countdown, it usually depends on the situation. For my current countdown, I have it set for the actual day that the cruise leaves, even though we are actually leaving home 3 days earlier. In this case, since the image is specifically for the cruise, I decided to count down to that.

Mine is set for the day we cruise about the time we will leave the house. (if I did it right)

Hi can any one help how do i add counters to my threads i have only 3 weeks to go till our 4 day Wonder cruise and i can't wait if you can help i would be so grateful

If we are doing a road trip I'll set it for the day/time we leave.

If we are doing a flying vacation to WDW I'll do it for the time we are due to land.

If we are doing a cruise I usually do it for sailaway ( 5 pm eastern ) even if we are leaving a day or two early.

So the answer for me is that it really depends.

The Tech Board is very helpful for getting things set up.

There are some good instructions at the end of this post.

My vacation begins the minute my plane leaves the ground (it's too late to change my mind then, nothing can stop me!). Therefore, my timer always starts with the time of my flight, even though my flight doesn't always leave the ground on time!
