When do they text you your room number ?

If you check in online - I assume 10 days before you arrive
Or can you do it earlier ?

Then when do you get a text back with your room number ?
9 am the day of arrival ?
noon the day of arrival ?
6 pm day of arrival ?

If we want to change our room location can we call the resort to see if there is a better room for our liking ?

You can do online check in whenever you want. However, you will not receive your room number until your room is actually ready. If you are not happy with your location, it is best to just go down to the front desk. Good luck!
 
In January I got text about 430pm. Room exactly what we requested. Year before no room ready text ever-
 

Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get a text. Doing the online checking gives them the ability to text you with your room number, but it doesn’t always happen. Often, the room number will show up in the MDE app, so you can check there as well.

And as others have said, you won’t know the room number until the room has been cleaned and is ready to be occupied.
 
My room always shows up on MDE. I’m an international guest so they don’t text us.
I imagine you can go to the resort early to ask if you got your room requests. They won’t tell you a room number but they can see. You may have to let them know what your request was.
 
When your room is ready. At poly in 2017 we got it about 11 am on our way from airport. In 2018 at CBR it was early afternoon after we were already in park. This January at CBR was about 10 am on magic express on way in. So it can vary based on how busy it is and where and what type of room you have. You have a better chance to move room if it’s early versus late. Sometimes you won’t be able to tell until you get to he room..

Trip 1, we flew in arriving around 3p and received a text as we left the airport. Trip 2 and 3, we drove and received our text in when we were about 20 minutes out both times.
 
Sometimes, you never get a room ready text and it's not in MDE, either. I've had it happen more than once.
 
I never get a text. Sometimes I get an email and sometimes we just have to go to the front desk.
 
We don’t get a text, but we get an email. There’s a phone number you can call in that email if you’re not happy with your room assignment. You can ask to be moved, but it may not be possible. It depends on availability.
 
If you do get a text and don't like your room,call the number in the text. :)
 
3 out of my last 4 visits I got the text within 60 seconds of getting my MagicBand scanned for the 2nd time in the Magical Express line.

The only time I didn’t get a text something was wrong with their system and I had to get it sorted out at the front desk.
 
It's been a mixed bag for us. A couple of times I got it as we were in line for MDE others on the bus itself, Once we didn't get anything, got to the desk, said our room wasn't ready, but as we walked out of the lobby got the text. I love to get it and go straight to my room.
 
I normally just keep checking the my disney experience app to see when the room is open. the latest we have ever got it was at 4:30
