Hello:

We're going next year from Sept 14-17th. When do the Halloween overlays (Haunted Mansion, Space Mtn) come out, normally? Also, when do the Halloween parties begin? I've just gotten off the Disneyland.disney.go.com site, and it's fairly worthless to find out actual information.

Thank you!

Welcome to the Disneyland Board.

You are experiencing trouble because you are looking for dates for 2012 that are most likely not set yet and dates for 2011 that are completed. A week ago you would have found a plentiful amount of information for this year on Disneyland's site.

This year, HalloweenTime began on September 16th. This includes the overlays you are asking about in your question. The parties began October 1st. You can find lots of Halloweentime information here.

As Disney Dreams said, the dates for Halloween Time 2012 have most likely not been set yet.

I think it's a safe bet to say that the Halloween season in general could possibly begin on either September 14th or September 21st in 2012. The season has gotten extremely popular over the last few years, so it stands to reason that 9/14 could be a likely choice.

However, there is so much happening at DLR next year with the opening of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, the new additions to the Disneyland Hotel, etc., and I'm fairly positive DLR expects big crowds all summer long and through Labor Day because of it. They may not want to do something like shut down Haunted Mansion before Labor Day to begin installation of the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay (which is what happened this year and last year) when they probably expect such large crowds coming out to see the exciting changes to California Adventure, etc.

So my hunch - and it's just a guess - is that DLR will either start Halloween Time on Friday, 9/21 next year, or they will surprise us and begin it on a day that is not a Friday. For example, instead of 9/14, they could start the season on Monday, 9/17. (DLR is doing a similar thing with the holiday season this month - a surprise Monday start date rather than a Friday.)

As for Mickey's Halloween party itself, this year it began on Friday, September 30. I think that in 2012, it would have to begin on either 9/28 or October 5th, with 9/28 being the more likely choice.

Thanks to everyone for their help--especially moving my post to the correct board :goodvibes My Dreams agent mentioned Cars, so I'm going to research all the new stuff at California. We moved our trip from the 14th to begin on the 15th of September. We didn't want both days on the weekend.

Thanks again. Whatever happens, it will be a great time. One missed attraction will not ruin our trip. :thumbsup2

You might want to take into consideration that Fantasmic and the fireworks will most likely only run Friday through Sunday. Weekends are important for this reason.
