Hey everyone-

I am planning a trip to Disney in Early January. We will probably arrive on the 5th and stay through the 11th. I was wondering when does Disney begin to take down their Christmas decorations?

Does anyone have specific information on all four parks or on Downtown Disney. I bet the parks look great for the holidays and I am just wondering if anything will still be up.

Also- It says the Osbourne lights are up till Jan. 5th. Is this a hard date or do they keep the lights on beyond that?

Thanks everyone!
Mike

From our past experience these last two years -- the last night of the OL is the last night.
We have even been on the backlot tour while the lights are up. During and after. We have seen them in various stages of tear down.
January '01 we went the day before the last night (Saturday). And it was packed, shoulder to shoulder, shuffle, shuffle. They ran out of 3D glasses by then too.
Last January was GREAT!! We went the LAST night (Sunday). The place was empty. It was like we had the entire area to ourselves. :) And we got glasses! :bounce:
We usually go the first full week in January (Saturday to Saturday). Even by the last day we were leaving some of the decorations were still up. They just were in various tear down stages throughout.

The last day for the Osbourne lights is January 7th. Officially it is also the last day for Christmas decorations but bits and pieces are around for a few days after that.

where did you get this date of Jan 7th? I saw on WDW's site they end the 5th (a sunday) of Jan 2003.

I would love if they were there to the 7th as we will be arriving on the 5th in the evening and don't want to waste a day's worth of our passes for a couple hours.

As for the decorations we were there the 7th to the 11th (mon-fri) of Jan 2002. Many of the places still had the decorations up. The tree was up outside AK on the wednesday afternoon we went. And the tree was still up at WL when we went the thursday we were there to check out our new DVC home. and the Friday we hit MGM and they were taking down the lights. I do think many of the smaller decorations had come down already, but the trees were still up. The most impressive was our first night when going to 1900 PF in the GF, that tree was incredible all lit up in that huge white lobby.
