When do PSAT scores come out?

We are getting ours Thursday. All the sophmores took the PSAT and I get to go to a Meeting in which they give out and explain the scoring.

My DS15 is also a sophomore and hasn't heard about his PSAT scores yet. Hopefully they'll be handed out soon.

My DD had to ake the PSATs this year and she's a Freshman. Why was that, I wonder? Anyway, I called the school and they claim they don't have them yet.

DS took them last year as a freshman too. Sophomores have to take them at the schools here.

At my daughter's high school, the Sophomores and Juniors take the PSATs, and the Juniors take the SATs in May.

Just out of curiosity, do your schools emphasize the importance of the test for juniors for national merit? I remember one teacher making fun of me when I said I had to study for the PSATs the next day, and so many college students I met had no clue that the PSAT were that important.

Schools give the PSAT to freshmen and sophomores as practice b/c experience tends to make kids' scores go up. At my oldest son's high school, one of his classmates took the SAT BEFORE the PSAT for practice, something that had never occurred to me. If a kid's test-taking skills and score on the Duke/Hopkins talent search test seem to indicate that he/she might be a National Merit candiate, then it makes sense to give them as much practice as possible before the official test junior year.

Yep, our school really pushes the juniors to take the PSAT. (DS16 hasn't received his scores yet, either.) Every year, there's an article in the local paper about which students qualified as National Merit Scholars and which made it all the way to finalists.

Public Service Announcement: Dec. 26 is the deadline to register for the Jan. 27 SAT. We got DS registered over the weekend.

Ds 16, juniorhere in NY hasnt gotten his scores yet. My aunt said my cousins son in NJ got his score, I dont know if this is good or not, he is a sophmore and got I think 1580. He has gotten letters from Princeton, Yale etc. already. He is in an honors program.
