I keep hearing about these discount codes, do they not come out until a month or two before your stay? (we will be traveling to Orlando for our honeymoon in July but cannot wait 6 more months to book)...
Thanks :)

Please see Mousesavers.com for historical trends for codes, but yes, lately it seems that they are released a few months before.

You can always book your trip now and apply the codes when they are released.

You can watch these boards and mousesavers for the codes to be released and call yourself to book, or use a Disney specialist travel agent who will do the work for you. I recommend Dream Come True Vacations, but there are many others - Dreams Unlimited, they sponsor these boards; Small World Vacations, and others.

Codes for October through December just came out. You can call and book them yourself, just mention the code.

July codes for next year won't be out for soooommmmeee time. But, you can book now, and apply the code when it does come out.

PS, conventional wisdom says to book a room you can afford "full-price" then hope for a discount. You can always upgrade later if the discounts are good, or simply wind up saving money on the room you have already booked. There are also modest discounts available for AAA members.

Another way to save money is to pay attention to the "seasons." At the deluxe resorts, for example, after July 4th it switches to a less expensive season. This can save you quite a bit of money each night even before discounts are considered. We have trips planned for March and July of 2005. I want to stay at the Polynesian for a few nights, and it's expensive. I am waiting until July for the Poly, because the rate after July 4th is over $100 per night less than the same room in March! No-brainer... Discounts usually apply a percentage off the flat cost of the room, so you still save more in a "cheaper" season.

Mousesavers has all this info.

Have fun!

Our last trip in November/December is the first time that we used a travel agent (online) I am usually so obsessive about planning that it was hard to let go. Unfortunately it wasn't a great experience, very slow response time, it would take over a week to get a response and no discount at either of the resorts we were staying at.

This trip I gave it another shot, but with a different TA
small world vactions and Leigh has been absolutley great! Always gets right back to me, offers suggestions and came up with an AP discount at the Poly LVC for the beginning of October. By reading the posts on this board that wasn't an easy thing to do. With work there was no way I could be on the phone at 7am. So the TA is the way to go for me.

We are only staying at the Poly for three days before moving to OKW. We are renting points for the 2nd time, this is something else you might want to look in to! We knew that even if we didn't get the discount we would be willing to pay the AAA rate that we booked at. So I agree, book what you are willing to pay for and if a discount comes up it is all the better.

Good luck
Pam
