When do Christmas decorations go up this year?

Keep an eye on the Disneyland at Christmas superthread. They'll post it as soon as anyone spots the information online.

What Sherry E and the others on that thread have been speculating, is that the official start of Christmas season should be no later than Nov 18. But based on the fact that the Halloween season is starting early (see Halloween superthread), everyone's speculating that perhaps Christmas season will start on 11/11/11. That's what I'm counting on, since we have reservations at HoJo's starting 11/13.

HTH,
Bob

We were thinking of coming over the November 11th weekend, and after, so as long as it starts around the 13th, I'd be ok. If it's not until the 18th that wouldn't work. Thanks for the link, and the info.

The last time I went to DL was November 5-9th 2009 and that year they had already started putting up decorations before we got there. However they also were filming the Christmas parade that weekend so that was the reason for the early decorations.

As others have said (thanks, Bob, for the referrals to the 2 holiday threads!:goodvibes), the season will officially begin on 11/11 or 11/18. Most likely, 11/11. We may not find out the start date for a while - last year I found out the dates in July, but Disney has a bad habit of being inconsistent with when, where and how they release their season dates - sometimes it's really early in the year; other times it's the month before the season in question begins. Sometimes the info comes out through the Parks Blog. Sometimes it's on the DLR website or in an e-mail from Disney Destinations.

While the decorations begin to slowly go up in early November a little at a time, all of the holiday entertainment (including IASW Holiday and the snow on Main Street, the Winter Castle, the Reindeer Round-Up, Santa, the carolers, the holiday fireworks and parade, etc.) will not begin until the official start date of the season, and the 3 Disney hotels will not get their decorations until right after Thanksgiving ends. So you really won't get the full holiday experience until at least that starting day, if not after.
