When do cancellations take effect?

Are cancellations immediate? I'm just wondering because I'm waiting for a cancellation at 50s Prime Time (1 of 2 days) and I dont know if I should be calling more than once a day.

I thought I remembering someone posting that they dont go into effect right away (midnight?) so they arent available to book till the next day (?)

When is they best time to secure one?

I'm not sure about when cancellations go into effect but I can tell you that if you don't get a PS or ADR as they are now called before you leave to go by the information podium on the corner of sunset (not sure of it's exact name) but you will see a little booth with CMs and this is the place that you can go to make same day ADRs and book Fantasmic package. Anyway, every trip we have gone by here early in the morning and booked 50s Prime Time for that day (lunch) and we have usually had our pick of seating times. So don't give up if you don't get that ADR before you leave

From my experience, they are instant. I snagged a CRT that a fellow DISer cancelled RIGHT after she canceled it.
