When do cancellations go into the system?

I currently have a courtyard view room booked at the Wilderness Lodge for Dec. 9 - 15, but I would really like to have a bunkbed room (woods view or courtyard). I've been calling here and there to see of any have opened up, but still no luck.

My question is - is there a better time to call? Do cancellations show up in their system in the morning, or is it instant? Have any strategies worked for you?

Thanks for you help!

I believe the cancellations go in instantly. A couple of months ago, I had reservations for both a campsite and a hotel since I couldn't decide which we would use. The campsites were all booked up with no availability. I decided to call and cancel the campsite. I immediately checked the site after that, and the openings were on there.

You should just keep calling when the CRO call-center opens every morning, maybe check a few times during the day on the internet.

When I have wanted to change or make a reservation at a resort that shows fully booked, the best time to check for new availability is as soon as any of your dates reach 45 days out. This is when the packages have to be paid in full. So a few days before the 45 day mark start checking.

Good Luck

A cm told me yesterday that the cancellations for the rooms go through in the mornings. He said the best time to call was in the a.m. He said dining cancellations update instantly, but cancelled rooms show up the next a.m. Whether or not this is true, I don't know.:confused3
