When disneyland fills to capacity?

I was wondering, if you go to disneyland and get a stamp out to go to downtown disney for a few hours, if the park reaches capacity while you're out, will they still let you back in?

As long as you have a hand stamp on that day, they will let you back into the park on a very crowded day. DLR will not let anyone back into the park without the hand stamp. If you try to trade with someone else with the ticket that doesn't have a hand stamp, DL mostly refuse guests into the park without the hand stamp. Sometimes AP holders don't have to get a hand stamp since their cards are in the CPU and when they go back in the parks it will recognize that they were in the park for that day. But on a busy day they also have to get a hand stamp if they want to get back into the parks.

Thank you so much. We are going on the day of the candlelight procession and were thinking of skipping out after lunch for a while and thought we might not get back in in the evening. Good to know we will.

Not necessarily. It all depends on the current situation.

However, depending on the situation, Guests re-entering the Theme Parks (and/or crossing from one park to another) may be allowed in while Guests entering for the first time may not. This is why all Guests, including those holding Disneyland Resort Annual Passports, entering the Parks on certain days may be advised to obtain a hand stamp when and if they exit.

The CM's at the exit always advise every guests to have a hand stamp when they leave the park. I have seen the signs right by the exit saying that every guests should get a hand stamp if they want to re-enter the park. I have seen this on 4th of July, but I always get my hand stamped no matter what even though I am an AP holder.

I thought when the park reaches capacity, they don't let you in whether you have a hand stamp or not. Which is what the topic poster asked...

when it reaches maximum capacity, they wont let anyone in regardless of whether or not you have a hand stamp. They cant go over capacity.

Has DL ever closed becasue they were at maximum capacity? I know MK has on christmas day.

Hubby and I were in discussions over capacity the other day. Is it 82,000?

So if we leave at 1pm on Saturday the 4th, for some shopping, I wonder if we'll get back in. :( I'd love to go do some shopping and then go back for the evening.

Not true, as AP holders we were only asked (required) to get hand stamps once. All other times (even on Tgiving) we were not asked to get them. The one time we did have to get them (we even went this past Jan 1-4 and didn't need a hand stamp) was Columbus Day or something random like that. We didn't even need them when we went on July 4th. :)

Do you mean Dec 4th? We never had any problems leaving and getting back in, even the time we had to have our hands stamped we didn't have a problem. :) You should be absolutely fine. The only days I would say not to leave would be Christmas Day and New Years Eve.

Thanks for the advise.

I know that when you get your hand stamped once you leave the park and you don't have to get it after that. I don't have to get a hand stamp even though I have an AP, but I like to get the stamp no matter what.

That was back in 08 when I left the park with my family and head over to DCA, the CM at the exit said everyone should get their hand stamp if they want to re-enter the parks.

There are different levels of closing for capacity. At the absolute, no one can get in until someone goes out, capacity, nothing is going to get you in until people start leaving.

At the lower levels, having been there already and having a handstamp and your ticket that shows you were there (when they scan it) is what ya need.

CP isn't going to cause the park to close fully (not even sure it would hit any level of closure). The front of the park is packed for sure, and others have experienced crowds in the lands beyond Main Street, but capacity? I highly doubt it. :)

Thanks guys. I don't even know what candle light procession is all about and I can't search for it at the moment. Maybe tomorrow.

Does it often reach capacity? Has anyone been there and been refused entry and if it has reached capacity have you managed to get in later?

DL only reaches capacity a few times a year so unless you are going during the peak of peak season it shouldn't be any concern.

As is noted above when the park reaches capacity the gates are closed, but after people leave more people are let in. In a sense when this happened the gates are closed for a few hours, not the rest of the day.

Ticket holders need hand stamps, not AP's. CM's only ask AP's get a hand stamp if it's extremely busy. In 2 years we were asked to do that one time only. So if someone has a standard park hopper they need a hand stamp to park hop or to leave and return, if someone has an AP it is very rare that they are asked to have a hand stamp. I think we are saying the same thing but differently so we are both confused. lol ;) It was 09 when we were asked to get our hands stamped with our AP's.

I've never seen it at capacity, I've heard that the days that it can reach capacity are Christmas and NYE but we've never been on those days, plenty of other holidays but not those 2.

You are right about that ticket holders need to get hand stamps and not AP holders. Since ticket holders need it to show proof that they were in the parks earlier during the day. Just two times ever since I got my AP, the CMs at the main gates asked me to show my hand stamp. I was curious why I need to show my hand stamp since I have an AP. I agree with you that we are saying the same thing about the hand stamp. :rotfl2:

I think if your picture is on your annual pass then you don't need a hand stamp, but if you have a pass that doesn't have your picture you do need a hand stamp.

All the DL AP have pictures on them, the only one that doesn't have a picture is the Premier pass. I was asked by a CM to show my ID to make sure I am the card holder.
