When did you stop using a booster seat for your child(ren)?

My son is 8 1/2 and he just stopped using his booster. He is tall for his age, but no where near 80 lbs (I think he weighs 66 lbs).

My daughter will turn 7 at the end of March and she still uses a booster, probably will for another year or two. She's average height and weight.

DD...right around her 9th birthday. She still hasn't reached 80lbs (she's 10 1/2) but she's too tall for the booster.

DS was 5, but that was almost 14 yrs ago. The laws was like age 3-4 then and the recomendation was age 5. He was one of the last in his preschool to be out of a booster seat. We used a belt postioner for a couple of yrs.

DS was always in the upper range for weight, and right in the middle for hieght until he hit puberty. He would gain weight right before a growth spurt and thin down a bit (but was never thin until puberty). He probably hit 80 lbs at 8- 8 1/2.

If a kid weighs 80 lbs as an 8 year old that is likely one overweight kid.

Not if they're over the 95% percentile for height. My son stopped using one on his 8th birthday in October. But he was already 4"9 and about 80#.

Well considering my 5 year old is over 4 feet tall and off the charts for height and weight I don't think that is accurate.
