When did you realize you were a Disney World fanatic?

My first Trip was a family trip to Florida in 1977. I remember going to the MK. I loved it. Unfortunately on that trip I Chickened out at the last minute to ride Space Mountain. I always wanted to go back to ride it. In 1991, I got my chance. A friend of mine, had to move back home to Tampa due to a family medical issue, and invited me to come down for a week. We drove over to WDW 3 times while I was there. I loved it, got to experience Epcot and MGM Studios that trip for the first time. It would again be 14 years before my next opportunity to visit the World.

I was going to Orlando for a Conference in October 2005. Upon booking my trip, to get the best price, I would have to be in Orlando a few extra days at the beginning and end of the Trip. This trip was my first experience with Animal Kingdom. I really liked it, despite the heat, It was one of my favorite parks.

Last year the same Conference was coming back to Orlando, so this time I decided to spend more time at WDW than I did in 2005. I book my trip and began researching WDW on the web and found the DIS. This would be my first trip to stay on Property, and that was what sealed the deal in my love for WDW.

I wasn't planning a trip this year, but on a whim I decided to price a Jaunt to WDW after my Conference which is in Texas this year, and I found I could add a flight to Orlando for only $50 more than a round trip ticket to Texas, and of course Disney just happened to send me Pin Code that very week, so this year, I will go to my conference in Texas for 4 days, and then fly to Orlando to spend 9 days at WDW. Next year the Podcast Cruise, and several days in the Parks & resorts in December to enjoy the Holiday Season at Disney, which was on my to do list.

I tend to travel solo and I see WDW as a relatively safe place and a value for the Single traveler to go and get away.

First foreshadowing: Before DH and I took our first trip in 2005, we told ourselves "maybe every 5 years" By the end of the trip, we had it narrowed down to "every 2 years" As we were taking off, DH leaned over and said "730 more days!"

Big hint: Fast forward to summer 2006 when we began to investigate DVC. Found it was for us, and bought in.

So, our 5 year gap was narrowed to 2 and now we take a Disney vacation about every 7 months!

We went a couple of times when I was a little kid. Once when I don't even remember and the second time I don't remember very well. In high school my band got the chance to go down over Christmas and I remember waiting in lines for many many hours and this was in 1994. I do remember riding TOT and loving it but having to wait in line for way too many hours.

Fast forward 14 years. My wife and I were looking to take a week vacation some where and her grandfather would let us use his timeshare in Orlando for a week so we went to Disney for 4 days. We did not plan like we should have but we were lucky enough to be there the first week of February so crowds were not bad at all and that is when I got the bug. Shortly after that trip I started listening to Podcast, found this site and we have been back 4 times since and have a trip planned for the end of September for Food and wine and Free dining. I also made my first solo trip in late April to see the Flower and Garden Festival.

I wasnt bitten until 2000.. at the age of 30 :scared1:

That was my first trip to "the world" and Ive been back many times..

I am definitely bitten..

On our honeymoon in 96. DH got to pick and I was less then thrilled (to put it lightly) that he had choosen WDW!! But after my first walk down Main st. I was a changed woman and hooked for life. Ok, so DH can do some things right!!!:rotfl:

We took two trips as a kid - the first when it was just MK. Between those two trips, Mom got a big coffe-table-type book all about EPCOT. We poured over that book - my brother and I were so excited to go back and see it! I didn't get to go back after that until my sr. year of high school with two of my best friends and experienced MGM for the first time. I was THRILLED when my mom and dad took DH, my brother and I on an adult family vacation in 2000...I got to experience all of the parks that time. But still, the thing that got me was going in 2005 with my kids. Now I am on the DIS WAYYYY to much, and my husband is hooked too! :lovestruc
