When/at what age did you let your dd begin to wear make up? and what did you let her wear?
My dd is 11 going on 12 in a couple of months - luckily she is not too interested yet, but I know it is coming!

No kids, but my mom started letting me wear it to school in middle school... probably end of 7th grade or beginning of 8th grade for me :) (and I think my mom was rather conservative too, so I figured that wasn't too early)

My 11 year old was interested last year!
When we said NO - she would go to her friends and come home with it on - nasty blue shadow and all -
so for christmas I filled up her stocking with neutrals....
she had to put in on every morning for about 3 weeks -
now RARELY takes the time -

My DSD is 12, and has sort of been wearing it on and off for a few months now. Luckily, she usually only wears it to church when she is at our house, so I am able to help her out with it, because her mom doesn't care to help her with it.

I've noticed everything happening right around two years before it did when i was that age. Makeup, dating, you name it. Find any 12 year old, and they will remind you of what you were like when you were 14. Not saying that's wrog or bad, just something that's become very evident to me.

WIcruizer ~ I completely agree about everything happening much sooner for our kids (right down to the actual physical changes...kinda freaked me out with my oldest, LOL)...also no dating for my girls yet...I'm so not ready for that yet :earseek: . That said, I do let my oldest 2 DDs (both in junior high) wear minimal make-up ~ they are allowed foundation to cover up blemishes and a light lip gloss ~ no blush or eye makeup of any kind yet but they aren't interested in those anyway so no arguments from them so far. princess:

dd is 14 and has some mascara and lip glosses. She just isn't that into make up and rarely puts anything on.

I was in jr high when I started wearing make-up. DD isn't going to need make-up, lucky her. She has a beautiful complexion, darker skin tones then my fish belly white skin and beautiful dark, long eyelashes compliments of her dad. She hasn't asked about make-up yet. It isn't very popular at their school, even for the 7th and 8th graders so we might not have to deal with that one too early. I do know she won't be wearing the heavy, dark eyeliners and bright blue eyeshadow, though. When she wants it, we will get colors that look good on her.

Dd just turned 12 and when she goes 'out' she will wear lip gloss and a tiny touch of blush. Sometimes she gets really whizzy and puts some sparkly glitter stuff on. We're lucky because she does a fair amount of theater and isn't as excited about wearing all the shadows, mascaras, and foundation the other kids do. She hates mascara and liners, so those aren't an issue. But I know a lot of the other girls are going to the dances they have and putting on extra make-up in the bathrooms when they get to school.

My dd isn't old enough yet, but I started wearing lipstick at 13, full makeup at 15. I wish I never did though, because it turns out I'm allergic to everything and now my skin is messed up.

My dd is only 5, but she loves play makeup. I started wearing a little makeup when I was around 12, but then again, it was the 80's, and everyone wore makeup back then, even the men in the videos!

DD13 started this year. She wears mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush, and lip gloss. Sometimes she puts it on too heavily, but fixes it when I ask her to. She does a good job, and boy, does it make her eyes bluer! WOW!

My daughter is 14 and has no desire to wear make up at all. I have offered to buy it for her, but she doesn't want it. I would say that if she had wanted it, I would have probably let her start wearing it last year, but not a lot of it!

DD11 is in the 7th grade & uses lip gloss often.
About 2 weeks ago she did come down for school with actual make-up on...but it was just that one day....haven't seen it since.

My oldest dd started with the eye shadow at 11, and started with mascara at the end of 7th...she's now in 8th. She does a good job with the make-up most of the time. My 2nd dd is in 6th and I let her use a bit of mascara, she wears glasses and it's not very noticable. They're both pale redheads and being a pale blonde ,I understand the wish for mascara.

I let my 7yo DD put on make-up to wear in the house only. She loves the stuff, and I was not allowed to even touch make-up as a kid, so when I did sneak out and wear it, I had no idea what I was doing, I looked like a circus clown, I am sure.

I figure at 7, she is getting the attraction of it out of her sytem, AND she is practicing how to apply it. Because I sure can't help! LOL I'll probably start letting her wear it out and to school when she is a freshman in HS.

At the end of 5th grade my mother took me to the department store and bought me oddles of make-up, but I was never super into it like some girls were. I would wear it occasionally, but not everyday in Junior High. By high school and college I wore make-up a lot more often.

My beautiful DD is 14. She started wearing light makeup last year. This year she wears light eye makeup and sometimes lip gloss. She is very good at art and it shows in her ability to apply her makeup. :earsgirl:

Thanks for all the responses!
My dd will wear lip gloss - but that is really it for now. I think I was in 7th grade before I wore make up...

Some girls in her 6th grade class are wearing so much eye make up - they look like little raccoons! :rotfl:

DD just tuned 13 Saturday and that was the age mark for mascara (sp) and lip gloss.
Maybe that will hold her over another year our so before she wants to go full fledge makeup
