So, today I hit a wall. I reached the none-of-this-makes-any-sense moment, put the camera down, and left the house to run errands; i.e., escape.

I was headed home after my errands, and I saw birds flying with this giant moon behind them. I immediately switched lanes to make the next right into a mini-corporate center. (I did look, but would have been pulled over for recklessness). I put the flashes on, grabbed my camera (I had it with me, just in case), and snapped away. I knew what I wanted to make it do, but I had no clue how to do it. I just snapped, changed settings, snapped some more. At one point so many birds flew over head, I hopped in the car (I imagined an Alfred Hitchcock film - I can't confess to seeing any though).

Once I finished, I continued home. Again, I was distracted, this time by geese and a sunset through trees. Since the geese were honking mad (haha), I couldn't get the angle with the sunset without upseting them further.

Back in the Toyota to head home again. Alas, deer, this time. Put it in reverse, no one on the road behind me. Flashers again, but this time I could not play. Cars were approaching and waiting for me to move. Two snaps - first a blur, second, black.

Today was when I knew. I am beyond my Nikon Coolpix; it wasn't too soon to buy my SLR. I will figure it out, and I will be patient with myself. :cloud9:

Today was when I knew. I should really have the SLR. I will figure it out, and I will be patient with myself. :cloud9:
I'm sorry, I'm not understanding your post. :confused3 You said you should really have the SLR? Don't you already have one? :confused3

I guess the inflection in that statement needs to be present to understand it. I meant that it was okay that I bought it. I really have a reason for having it. I am ready to do more than just point and shoot.

Ohhhh...Of course it's okay that you have it and you will learn how to use it better and it will get easier. I struggled when I first got mine, and I am still learning, but you can't beat the options you have with a DSLR vs. P&S. :goodvibes
