The other day my DH said, "Maybe I should get a Mickey Mouse shirt for our trip". I was so shocked, this is so unlike my DH. (that was my first hint)

ANd today I definaltey know he is a true WDW fanatic like me becuase he has benn playing VMK for at least the last 3 hours, I do not even play that.

It makes me so happy because I know now that we will be visiting WDW for a very long time.

When or how did you know when your significant other converted?

When I casually mentioned to DH back in March that I'd like to go to Disney for Thanksgiving, and he said...what resort did you book us in?

You lucky girl you! I have brought DH too WDW going on 4 times now and still cant seem to get him converted. He will wear a Goofy shirt I bought him but still doesnt really get into it, wont plan with me and cant stand to hear about my planning. He normally has a good time there but gives me a hard time about getting him to go. Ive learned to just take trip with just the kids and I but I sometimes really want to share with him all the joy I get from WDW..

When DH started reading everything he could get his hands on about Walt and the Disney Co. DCL converted my dh. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I took dh to WDW for his first time when he was 30. He said he didn't have to go back until we had kids. 2 kids later and we're going to Disney as much as we can.

I'll have to get my DH to answer this thread becuase it was certainly him who converted me.... :teeth: Maybe is was "final" when I gave the okay to buy into DVC and actually did most of the calls and planning for it myself :thumbsup2

Gabby already liked WDW quite a bit, because she has been over 100 times in her life being that she grew up in FL. Now, there are Disney fans and there are folks that go to WDW on a regular basis. Gabby was a regular park goer, but never knew about all the cool stuff that was really there. She is learning though. When we met she could take it or leave it.....no addiction at all.

For many years of my life, Mother, FL, & Disney were all bad words. Long story short, I have a hideous human being for a mother and she moved to FL. She and my grandmother used to try to bait me into coming to see them by telling me that they could get me a job at WDW during the summer. I declined. The less toxic stuff in my day the better.

Now, back to the better part of the post.....

Gabby and I first went to WDW together in March of 2001. I had been a few times as a little kid, but I never enjoyed it as much as I have with her. But, then again, my life in general is much better with her.....but I digress. We went again in September 2002, December 2003, and most recently in December 2005. Gabby is the one that actually proposed our upcoming trip. She said it is her gift to me for our anniversary, which actually is on Tuesday, but her work schedule wasn't open until September, so that is when we get to go. Gabby is never the one to ask to go to WDW, it's always me. She has been planning along with me more this time. She has been really into it and I am really thankful that she is getting it finally.

I am really jealous right now, she is on her way to PI as we speak......for the 3rd time this week she has gotten to go to the DTD area. She ate at Raglan Road twice this week and has fallen in love with the Chocolate Martini's that they serve. Tonight, she is going out with her best friends from high school. The job she has now causes her to travel all over the country, but at least when she goes to FL, she gets to visit with family and friends.....and get a little pixie dust.

I think I have an addict on my hands.....she may not bleed lime green, but she is all about the pixie dust. :wizard: Maggie

I knew i had converted my Dh(who kept saying that this would be the only trip maybe again when they were teenagers but not before) when on our last morning(a week ago today), we were eating at Ohana's for their breakfast. I mentioned that i had forgotten the character greet with Visa and DH said, well we can do that next year. My oldest DS(8), and looked at each other and just smiled.--KIm

I knew on Mar 27, 2006 when DH started saying...."on our next trip..."

My Dh has always wanted to go but it has just been this past week that I have truely converted him to the true path. He asked me to get him a guide book then read the whole thing in one day. He even flagged some things that he wanted to discuss with me and not forget :lmao:

He isnt a full conversion yet but his conversion started on our honeymoon last year and he saw that there was more than just kid stuff. He even surprised me with a quick weekend trip in Jan and then again in June and we got APs. He still puts on an act with other people (you know the "why do you go there" type) but all he has to say to them now is how much I want to go and no longer goes on and on about expenses etc. Last week he even came over to me with the laptop and said "lets look at some disney vacation ideas" we spent the evening talking baout the hotels and extra things we would like to do on our next trip!!!

He told me that he use to not like Disney and now with me if does like it and he is sure that when we have a kid one day that he will love it!

Wishes do come true if I was able to get him even this far.

The minute my hubby entered into Main Street at the Magic Kingdom and saw the castle and then took one look at how happy I am there...it was well...magic :cloud9: He was hooked from then on.

IT happened on our honeymoon. We went from our resort to ttc instead of a bus to the park. When we boarded the fairy and she could see the castle and all the other things thats what did it. We have since been back last year and are planning a trip with her three girls in June.

Ok...So looking back, I don't think that there was just one moment that stuck out as "the one" that marked DBF as officially converted to WDW fanaticism. It was more of a string of events. See, when DBF was still "courting" me (before there was even a relationship to speak of), he didn't know much about the real me.... but he KNEW my PASSION for WDW.

And being the hopeless romantic that he is, DBF called me at work one Friday Night (4/04) around 10pm and told me that since I had off from work the next day, he wanted to do something really super special for me...and he decided that he wanted to take me to my most favorite place on earth... Disney World!! At first, I laughed at him (hey...I'm a college student and he's right out of college... finances are tight, to say the least  ). But apparently, as I soon came to realize, he wasn't kidding.

But Disney World? Just for the Day? FROM NY???? I was freaking out!!!

So, I got off work at about 1am Saturday. He purchased the tickets at 2am and we were on that Jet Blue flight at 6:50am. We had no return tickets (we really played the spontaneous card...we didn't know if we were going to fly home that night, or find a place to nap, or what...), only one backpack, and a little bit of cash. Talk about scary!! (the GOOD kind of Scary!)

Getting off the plane was amazing (just realizing that we really did it... we were really alone, together, in beautiful sunny Florida!!). We took a taxi straight from MCO to the TTC, bought our MK tickets, and were in the park by like 11! We spent the entire day together.. He still talks about how amazing it was to watch my face as I ran around Disney like a 5 year old! (I hadn't been to WDW since 10/99 prior to this...). Ok everyone, in unison... "Awwwwwwww"!!! :lovestruc LOL

Anyway, it turned out that MK was open till 12pm that night, so we ended up staying till close. We did everything from eating our first real meal together (at Cosmic Ray's... I had a chicken Caesar salad... mmmm) to buying matching Mickey Ears and walking around all day like love sick puppies. It was sooooo magical! We watched the fireworks and the parade and got on all the rides we wanted to. Only problem was that I had work the next day (Sunday) and as our day together dragged on, it became more and more apparent that I wasn't going to make it to work the next morning in NY, whether we caught the red-eye flight back that evening or stayed overnight somewhere in Orlando. So, with no definite plans, I called work from the queue line to Splash Mountain to tell them I wasn't feeling well and that they would have to get someone to cover my shift! (This is not like me at all, but then again, neither is hopping a plane to Disney with just a few hours notice... no plans, no way home... ).

So, once the park closed, we didn't know what to do afterwards. I had been to Disney with my family many times before, and I knew busses always ran to PI till at least 2am. So we took the monorail to the Contemporary (still having no clue what to do), hopped a bus from there to PI, and walked to the Wyndham Palace. At this point I needed a shower so badly, so being the all-impressive man that he is, DBF coughed up the $$ and bought us a room. (In retrospect, we should have just gotten a room at the Contemporary, it was around the same amount of $$... I guess the price of being spontaneous is that you get RIPPED OFF!) It was so amazing and magical though, we just didn't care.

The next morning brought more bad news.... tickets home went sky-high in price and we ended up having to spend like 5 times what we paid to get there, just to get home! We couldn't stay another night though because I had school the next day!! So we spent that whole Sunday (which happened to be Easter!) walking around DTD, playing with the legos, eating Ice Cream, and falling in love. At dusk, we took a cab back to the airport and RELUCTANTLY got back on a plane....although, obviously, neither of us WANTED to! Disney World and Florida had officially become "Our Place" and we wanted to stay like that FOREVER!

One of the most memorable moments was when we were walking back through security to get on the plane, Mickey Ears and all, and the female security guard at the gate just smiled and said to her associate "Look at those honeymooners! They are so cute!" and turned her head to us and said "Congratulations!"... It was so adorable, we just turned beat red and thanked her... knowing that whatever was growing between us must be HUGE when even complete strangers were noticing!

And that’s my story... My amazing one night trip to Disney World! And now, about 2 & a half years later, we've been back 5 times (check my siggie!) with another 11 day, free dining trip booked for August 13th (one more week! whoohoooooo!)!! It was during that first trip that I just knew.... see, DBF decided to take me to WDW on our first real date solely because I was in love with it... But he keeps going back because on that "first date", part of him fell in love with it too. He came home and slowly started reading these boards (a lurker, not a poster :p ), ordered books about Imagineering, and constantly looks at the high resolution aerial photos of the entire Orlando property. He's obsessed with the behind the scenes magic.... and Dinosaur. He claims to be intrigued and impressed at the sheer size, nearly flawless business model, and massive construction of the resort, but don't let him fool you... When he walks down Main Street U.S.A., his face lights up like a child. Wishes makes him teary eyed. We can't pass a character without snapping a photo... or two ;) . And we ALWAYS have a return trip planned (even if it’s not official yet).

Yup, he's a successful conversion case all right! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I knew when darling spouse told me we should go and look into the DVC some more...YES!!!!!!
:dancer: party: :tigger:

We have been DVCer's several years now!!!!

Tink, that is the most adorable story I have ever heard. Does he have a brother?

When we were talking about wedding plans and he said we should have it at Disney. Needless to say I was trilled becuase I never thought he would have been up for that.

Yesterday I walked in on DH watching the Animal Kingdom show from the travel channel that I TIVO'ed!

He never would've done that before - I couldn't believe it!
