When Did You Join DVC?

The "How Old Were You When You Purchased" poll got me thinking that maybe it was time to do a new "When Did You Purchase" poll. So, here goes. With a limit on categories, some years were combined. Select the year of your initial purchase, not of any add-ons.

We finished signing at approx 5:30pm on Februaey 2, 2002. This was the last day that that VWL was being sold as new contracts (the first time around). If they did not re-start selling, we may have bought the last new VWL contract!

We joined in Feb 1999 and it was $65pt at OKW............the members that bought in 1992 and got the park passes inc really got there $$$ worth.
We did get VB at $62 and $65 last year with MB's.

Just like a gambler who has won, I keep adding on points. I bought 230 in 1992 and have added on six times. I now have 500 and it's not enough!

we purchased Feb 10th 2003....what a way to get out of the rain. Usually I get caught buying a sweatshirt..but not this time. Would have bought sooner, but I am just 26 and recently married!!My parents have owned OKW since 1994!

Early '92 here.. We really miss those free tickets. I can't tell you of the sticker shock we experienced the first time we went to WDW in 2000!

We moved to Florida just before the free passes ran out. The Florida resident's seasonal pass is the next best thing.

Wow I can't believe that I qualify as a "Genius"! February, 1992 was the start of the 'magic' for us. We bought 270 points and added an addtional 50 for a total of 320. I'm wishing for a big lottery win to finance more.
Yes we also miss those free tickets. We visit our current guide on every trip just to say Hi and keep in touch.
A bit of trivia here-those of you who purchased early -"How many changes to the DVC logo have there been? And what was changed?"

I had Betty on the phone for 45mins till I finally said ok to our first 300pt. VWL purchase at 5:59pm on Febuary 2, 2002 - We both had a good laugh about cutting it so close . LOL

Gigashadow, are you refering to Betty Prikryl? She's our guide and has been great to work with in the initial purchase at BCV and just recently our add-on there.

We took the plunge into the world of DVC in Feb 2002. DW was not very enthusiastic about it because of her addiction to the Grand Floridian. We've been going to WDW 2 or 3 times a year for the past ten years so shame on us for not getting involved sooner. In the past couple of years we've found ourselves visiting Epcot more frequently so it made sense to us that we should stay nearby. We are completely satisfied with BCV so we just did an add-on.

We joined in December 91, made our first visit in January 92, it was a great Xmas present to each other! Funny but on the way back on the plane, I read the papers we had just signed and I said to myself " Boy I hope I did the right thing!!" Needless to say we have never regretted it!

I was widowed in 1991 and seemed to be using what money I had to make myself feel better. I bought a Mustang convertible and DVC. I was absolutely sure that both were stupid purchases.

I still have the trouble free Mustang and the DVC turned out to be a better investment than the stock I sold to buy it.

Bought at Beach Club in 2002. I had looked in 1997 and didn't buy then, which I now regret. Really glad I finally came to my senses.

May of 2000 for the original 230. December of 2000 an additional 70, May 2002 another 100, and just this month another 100 for a total of 500.
