Hi all, So I was told that I would be able to start our room block by the middle to end of march, well I got a little ahead of myself and emailed Bill, our coordinator and asked to start it on march 1st, and he said I would have to wait until the end of march. Well its the end of march and I emailed him again only to have him respond that it will yet again be another few weeks. I really want to get the room block done so we can get and sign our LOA. Am I being too impatient, has any other april 2012 brides started there room block yet?

He's probably holding back because he won't be able to generate a LOA for you until you fully secure your venues. Do you already have it worked out as to which resorts you want and how many room nights in each? I really didn't find it to be that difficult of a process (but we only have 18 guests). I would just take it as a lesson learned from the other thread regarding room blocks and under reserve what you think you'll need because guests will still be able to use the wedding discount beyond what you set aside as guaranteed without running into the risk of having to pay for unused room nights.

Hey there! We started our room block about the same time you are at now, about 13 months ahead. We got it done quick too because we wanted to sign our room block. I say if you know what resorts you'd like to block, then go ahead and start asking your guests, that way when your planner gives you the go ahead, you can just give him your info and get that LOA signed! :goodvibes

We have an idea of which resorts we want, we are also inviting about 230 people hoping that only about 100 will come. So figuring out the amount of nights will be a little more complicated. We are hoping that about 55% wont come otherwise it will be insane :scared1:

I guess I really just want to get to sign the LOA and since we are doing the WP and american adventure rotunda, we have our locations so I don't know why I would have to wait to make sure they were confirmed.

Hey Rebekah--I haven't done mine yet either. I figure Joe will send it when the time is right although I totally understand wanting to just get it done and signed!!!! Sounds like yours might be pretty complicated though so maybe if you explained your concerns he would go ahead and send you the paperwork? I wonder if the room rates are fluctuating and that's why they're holding off.....

I thought you had to know the number of nights you need for each hotel before you sign the LOA, because they put that in your LOA. Maybe they changed it? :confused3 So I figured you'd have to figure out the room nights anyway. We just literally called every single "family" invited and told them what we were doing and made it very clear to them that it was just an estimate and we were trying to get an idea of how many rooms to reserve, and that they had no obligation whatsoever to stay at a resort. Granted, we have half as many people invited as you do, but maybe you could start asking around and have friends or family ask around too?

This part will probably be the hardest thing to do because it's hard to really know who is really going to come and/or stay at a hotel.

Hey! I'm getting married the same day you are!! But at the yacht club with the reception at boardwalk. We have already completed our room block and submitted it to Pam. However, it could be because she is out of the office until April 1st. Good luck and hopefully he sends it to you soon!! :)

Hey! I'm getting married the same day too! What time is your ceremony? We are at 2:30 and we just switched from the WP to SBP.

Thanks everyone for the information. I was told that I couldn't start the room block because they didn't have the discounts yet, but I guess that isnt the case. I will wait another week and email bill again after april 1st. I have found that if I do hear something from him that is different from what I have heard here, if I push the issue he tends to change his answer or at the very least "find out what he can do"

Yay for all of us 4/21/12 brides!!!:cool1:

hmm, that's weird that he told you to wait. I'm April 2 and I filled out my room block a couple weeks ago. Maybe ask him again after the first of April.
