When Did You First Join DVC?

We joined in 2001 with 300 points at VWL (I know it was before September because we received our wonderful "Sept. 11th" Mickey pins which we cherish to this day.) We added another 100 points at VWL a few years later, then added 150 more points at VWL early this year. Once AKV opened this year, we sold the 150 points and bought 140 points at AKV! Life is good!

We toured in Feb 1992 but I knew before they actually ever broke ground that I was going to purchase. We have been enjoying DVC ever since !
We have added on twice since our initial purchase. Now that we have relocated to Florida we use our points for long weekends or special trips up to see Family when they visit WDW.
I really miss those free tickets but love the flexability of all the different resorts and options now.

Money could never buy all the great memories from our DVC trips .

Joined in 02/07. my dh and i bought it as our wedding gift to ourselves. I know that we will add as soon as the little ones start arriving.

We joined in March 2005. We always used to stay at a moderate resort since it was my parents, my sister and I. In August 2005, we were bringing 2 more people, so we could have either stayed at 2 rooms, or joined DVC and stayed at a 2 bedroom. Since my parents knew that my sister and I would be bringing our families down all the time once we got married, they decided it would be a good idea to join DVC for the grandkids!

We joined in Jan 2002. We were staying at the Disney Institute and one of the cast members told us about DVC and what a great deal it was. We scheduled a tour and purchased 200 points at VWL and have since added on many times. Absolutely the best purchase we ever made.

During none of our trips did we inquire about the DVC - even though there are signs everywhere - until about 2 weeks ago when I called to find out details. We were immediately hooked once we reviewed the documents and had some of our questions answered.

We should have taken the time to find out more 5 years ago! Better late than never.

You're going to LOVE being so close. Just watch out... all your friends and family will want to "tag along," since they live close, too. ....And watch those weekend points - they're really tempting! (We have ALWAYS been, and will ALWAYS be, in a "constant state of borrow."

We joined on April 27, 1997. First learned about it at a kiosk at EPCOT in 1996, but took a year to "think it over."

We've added on 5 times - with the last one just this past Wednesday!

I wanted to do it early on and had a friend who wanted to go in with me so that we could more easily afford it and share the points.

His brother told him that it "was a bad investment" and talked him out of it.

Took me a few years to finally scrap up enough savings to purchase on my own. I finally did in 1999.

Wouldn't you know it, my friend wanted to come with me to see what the place was like (BWV). He liked it so much, he asked if he could come down with me again the next year. I said yes. But during that next year, as he was beginning to plan the year after that, I told him the only way he would come down in the future was by buying his own piece of DVC, that he was through using me.

Thus a Beach Club owner was born.

And every time he sees his brother, he feels like clobbering him because, of course, we would have been money ahead with our earlier purchase.

But, then again, with the way that he goes down to WDW, I probably wouldn't get my fair share of points, so it's probably better that we own separately anyway!

Actually for me, I did the tour at BWV in 2000. But I knew that there were "rumors" of Beach Club DVC coming up, so I am glad I waited. I reallly wanted my home resort to be BCV. And when I found out they were selling them starting in February, 2002, I jumped on the bandwagon.

Of course, I only bought the minimum 150 points. I have to factor in the dues and what I'm comfortable paying each month. Yes, I can kick myself for not buying more points in 2002, but I never regret buying in when I did.
