When Did You First Join DVC?

Over the years, we have run many polls about DVC and it's interesting to periodically repeat these.

So, when did you first join DVC?

Late bloomer...we closed on our resale contract in Nov. 2005. Then added on the next month after we enjoyed our first trip and realized the every other year wasn't going to be enough.

We joined in March of 2005 (and of course wish we had jumped in sooner!).

I was so happy to find DVC in 1992!

Doc -- something is wrong with the poll. When I submitted an answer, the first two options appeared as combined years (91-92; 93-94). I answered "2004" which, when the poll results were first displayed, appeared as 2002 with a total of 2 responses (1993 and "my" 2002).

I hit the refresh button - and the answers changed. Still 2 responses, but now 1993 and 2005. The number 2002 remained in italics as if it were my answer.

After allowing a bit of time to elapse, I hit refresh again. They years have been split out differently (no longer in pairs) and I still see 2002 in italics (as "my answer") but with no votes. Strange ....
The poll now splits the years differently and

We took a WDW vacation in October of 2003 to go to the Funai classic at Disney (golf tourny). We decided to stay at Wilderness Lodge because it was close to the course and we loved the them, and we had no idea about DVC.

We had a great trip, loved the hotel, and one night walked by the Disney Vacation Club desk in the hotel, inquired, discussed, brought everything home and joined in November of 2003 at SSR.

We have been very satisfied!!

1999 for me. I was single and a huge Disney fan. Now I'm married, still a huge Disney fan and have converted my husband whose last trip to Disney before we were married was 1982 prior to EPCOT opening!!

2004, bought a resale BWV contract sight unseen. Then the add on bug hit... another BWV contract, and three small VWL contracts.

All in the same year.

Feb. of 93 with an add on in June of 93. We added on right after our first trip.
The rest is memories.

2003 for us. Purchased the last of BCV and SSR Pre Sale.

First heard of DVC right here on the DIS and purchased sight BCV sight unseen.

Very happy and have pretty much been going at least 3 times a year since

We toured in July 2004 while staying at CSR, and purchased two trips (and two deluxe resorts) later when we were there Nov 2006.

I wanted to do it early on and had a friend who wanted to go in with me so that we could more easily afford it and share the points.

His brother told him that it "was a bad investment" and talked him out of it.

Took me a few years to finally scrap up enough savings to purchase on my own. I finally did in 1999.

Wouldn't you know it, my friend wanted to come with me to see what the place was like (BWV). He liked it so much, he asked if he could come down with me again the next year. I said yes. But during that next year, as he was beginning to plan the year after that, I told him the only way he would come down in the future was by buying his own piece of DVC, that he was through using me.

Thus a Beach Club owner was born.

And every time he sees his brother, he feels like clobbering him because, of course, we would have been money ahead with our earlier purchase.

But, then again, with the way that he goes down to WDW, I probably wouldn't get my fair share of points, so it's probably better that we own separately anyway!

We purchased our first 150 points at VWL in 2001.

We purchased in September 2001. We drove down just after 9/11 on our way to my SIL wedding in the Keys. We stayed 3 days at CR and my husband watched the DVC commercials every day in the room (we needed a break from all the 911 coverage). On our last day he conned me into going on the tour. I originally said "ok but we aren't buying". 3 hours later, down payment was made and we signed paperwork.

1997 - 10 wonderful/magical years!!!!
We purchased OKW during our 1st trip staying on property. We were staying @ WL and went to check out the new boardwalk area. We saw "model" open and after 6 very long hours we purchased. DH & I were always against traditional timeshares and we wanted to make sure that we were making the right decision - turned out to be one of the best decisions we've ever made and have added on twice since then!!!!!!
