We just got back from four nights at okw, studio, The beds (matresses) were terrible, they were hard and creeky? DH had back surgery a few weeks back and had a terrible time sleeping. What ever happened to our wonderful sink down into beds? Was it just our room, bldg. 38?

We have had some nice mattesses and some pretty hard ones too at OKW in teh past. It seems to me that the second bedroom/studio beds are harder than the kings in the master.

I like this news, not the creeky part, but the hard part, I don't sleep well at all on soft beds, the firmer the better for me. :thumbsup2

The mattress we had at Old Key West last week in Building 13 (1 bedroom) was awful. I got up with kinks in my back every morning. I thought it was old - gosh, I hope that's not the new mattresses. It was creaky, thin, hard, and lumpy. The mattress we had back in December at Old Key West was a pillow top and very comfy - not too firm and not too soft.

We talked to the manager of VWL and another DVC person while we were in the lobby of the VWL last week and they told me and my husband the villas at Wilderness Lodge should have new mattresses and DVD players by the time our next trip rolls around - October. Gosh, I hope what I slept on at Old Key West last week is NOT the replacement mattresses. If it is, I'm gonna have to buy an egg crate or something to make it through a week's stay. I love the mattresses at Sheratons and Westins - Sweet Sleepers and Heavenly beds. Surely to goodness DVC won't go to something that's hard as a brick.

We stayed in a new one bedroom unit at Marriott's Horizon resort on Friday and Saturday night before checking into Old Key West and I have to tell you, Marriott had the better mattress by far. The mattress was so bad at Old Key West that I never once took a nap - it just wasn't worth the pain. I told my husband if I'd of known how bad it was gonna be, I would have asked to be in the back of the resort where we had the good mattress the last time.

Gosh I hope they are not new, if not I wont be sleeping very much on vacation. We flip from 1 br to studio when dds arent with us. I was there in Dec. 05 and didnt have this problem but our room was 27-28ish and a 1 bedroom. I hope i get a survey in the mail or email, ill be sure to post this issue.

Whew, sounds like it's a good thing we didn't take Bldg 38 (it was one of the two choices offered to us at check in last week). Instead we took Bldg 32, where the mattress, probably firm, really helped my usually bad back. On the way home, I was even wondering what kind of mattress it was and getting it for at home, because I usually wake up at home with a stiff back. I wonder if mattresses are being changed.
