When did the RAC checkin cutoff change?

Went to check bags for our return flight yesterday morning and found the resort airline checkin counter closing up shop at noon. It was a decidedly un-magical end to our vacation.

Looking online, it seems 5AM-1PM is still listed most places (including the FAQ here.) I fired off a complaint letter to Disney (largely due to the attitude of the CM who dealt with us - which was to say, "Oh, didn't you read your letter? We recently changed our hours..." No, sorry, I didn't read the letter to see a tiny change in the fine print.) And, yet another reduction of services...

Just want to a) bring attention to the change so that it doesn't mess up anyone else's vacation and b) I'm curious when the change occurred.

They actually are not cm's, it's not run by Disney. They work for a company called Bags Inc.

Ultimately, if they are standing on Disney property and acting on behalf of Disney, it doesn't matter who they work for. Their poor customer service reflects poorly on Disney.

Thanks, Tobikaye. Figured it was in the recent round of cuts. Hope others see this thread and don't run into the same issue I had.

Even though they shouldn't have been rude the change in their hours has nothing to do with Disney cuts. Disney doesn't pay them, Bags does.

That said, not sure it ever made since for them to be open till 1:00 anyway. Check out is 11:00. I'd assume most folks who are checking bags to get on a plane want to do so at check out, no? What do you do with them from 11:00 on?

Almost makes more sense to open at 4sm and close at 11. Then those with flights from 7:30am on could use RAC.

This. Maybe next time find out what is going on before firing off that complaint letter, hmm? They are more liable to take you seriously if the facts in your letter are correct. And when it comes to travel, be sure you read and know what is going on. Things can change, and airline travel is not something you want changing without knowing about it.

I'm sure a lot of people take late flights home so that they can make the most of their last day at Disney and therefore come down really early to check in their bags. But otherwise, I agree - I would imagine that with check-out being at 11:00, most people have done their bag check by 12:00.

That's us. We always take late flights home, typically 10:00 PM. I always have my bags at RAC before 11:00. I see no point not to. There's not really anything else to do with them after I check out. I mean, sure they can go to bell services buy why? When we are ready to leave the room we call bell services, have it all taken down, give them what we will carry on and head straight to RAC. I'd have to think that 99% of other guests flying later in the day do the same. Heck even if you are leaving for the airport at 1:00 pm I'd assume you'd still need to get your bags to RAC at 11:00, when you have to check out of your room.

If your flight is at 1:00 PM, you need to have your bags at checked in at RAC probably no later than 9:30 if you're taking DME since DME picks up about 3 hours before your flight. Even if you're not using DME, I would say no later than 10:00.

As you can tell, we never fly out that early. Still well before noon, or 1:00, the old time. Find the closing time change easy to understand
