When did the parade in AK start?

Since I am in a debate with a worker from Disney over the AK parade, I need all my facts. I said it was not going on anymore and she said it was a "new parade", and it was still running. I know it closed on May 31, 2014, but when did it open.

Mickey's Jammin' Jungle parade debuted in the fall of 2001. Prior to that there was the March of the Animals (later changed to ARTimals) parade but then ended about a year after AK opened if I recall correctly.
